Reinforced dive suit and radiation zone...multiple questions *SPOILERS*
So..is there any advantage to wearing partial radiation/reinforced suit?

....ex: Do you gain ANY protection from wearing the body and/or glove section of the reinforced dive suit...or do you need to wear both to gain benefit?

Also, I honestly haven't noticed any detrimental effect from wearing partial radiation (only excluding the mask)...although I haven't spent much time in the radiation zone of the Aurora other than to fix the radiation leak....

....That being said, does the radiation zone stop after repairing the leaks?

You get partial radiation resistance according to how many parts of the suit (helmet, suit, gloves) you're wearing, and full resistance only with all three. You need to spend a fair amount of time in the radiation zone, and I believe it gets worse the closer to the Aurora you get, but you will eventually start to take damage. The partial resistance determines how long you can go before taking damage, but I don't think it reduces the amount of damage taken.

And yes, the radiation in the zone clears up after about 3 ingame days post repairing the leaks. Eventually you can even just walk onboard the Aurora itself without needing any radiation protection.

Appreciated!

Any clue about the reinforced diving suit? I believe I read a post somewhere that you didnt get any protection unless you had both the gloves and the dive suit on at the same time..as most data regarding this game..it was dated a bit and I wasn't sure if that was still the case.

Once you fix the leaks in the drive core the radiation will disappear after a few in game days so you don't need to bother with the rad suit after that.

What hempest said. There's no other location with radiation in the game if you're not using nuclear power, so the suit's basically useless after you fix the aurora.
Oh! Almost forgot. Each piece of the suit cuts radiation's effects by 1/3rd.

I'd like to remind everyone of the nuclear reactor; unless you wanna swim back up to the surface for a creepvine sample when you finish your 900m seabase reactor, you're going to need to keep the rad suit handy. I'd recommend just keeping stuff like that on the cyclops: Fire extinguisher, rad suit, propulsion cannon, extra alien keys, etc, just in case

Why would you use a reactor at 900m when you have thermal vents all over the place?

Damn, lol...I JUST built a nuclear reactor yesterday. I haven't seen any adverse affects at all though. I've been using the reinforced dive suit/gloves since just before I mde the nuclear reactor.

I was just providing one random example from the top of my head. But I guess I could just as easily change that to "when you're way out on top of the enforcement island in your rad 4 dimensional phasegate linked super base" or any other time when you would want to make a nuclear reactor away from a source of fiber mesh for a new radiation suit.

Point is, there is more than one use for it, so keep it handy if you plan on doing a lot of fancy base building later :P

So, by this I'm guessing the nuclear reactor can melt down? What causes it to happen?

I'm not finding any evidence to suggest that the nuclear reactor has anything to do with radiation (...). There was talk before that interacting with the reactor with a core (IE, swapping out an old core or adding a new fresh one) would give the character a small dose of radiation which could only be blocked by using the suit, but I can't find anything to support that that was ever implemented.

Well, I don't use it, but I do know there is a specific container for getting rid of nuclear rods (the Trash can can't get rid of them). So, it would be reasonable to assume there might be other special circumstances with it.

I use a Nuclear Reactor in one of my Bases and you dont need the Radiationsuit to handel the Rods or go to the Reactor. The radiationsuit iis useless after you stop the leaking and the radiation is gone.

You can get rid of the rods by using the nuclear waste disposal. It is most likely a bug, but if you put your old rods into it and save and load they are gone ;).

I think I read that they wanted Uranium ore to also give off radiation and hurt the player when it was in their inventory - Guess it's something they didn't have time to implement, like the nuclear reactor not giving off radiation.

Maybe something for a later update.
Telerion Feb 1, 2018 @ 2:55am
Maybe, but that would be very anoying if you constantly switch between suits to pass a uranium ore. Honestly they are everywere in the lost river. For the reactor i actually would love someting like that, on the other hand, switching suits constantly while giong in and out of your base will get anoying after awhile. You dont really need a nuclear reactor and if it would radiate you nobody will ever use them. Sure the rods last forever now and i power my base for 24h now and only used up 2, but i could do that easily with a bioreactor.
