And yes, the radiation in the zone clears up after about 3 ingame days post repairing the leaks. Eventually you can even just walk onboard the Aurora itself without needing any radiation protection.
Any clue about the reinforced diving suit? I believe I read a post somewhere that you didnt get any protection unless you had both the gloves and the dive suit on at the same time..as most data regarding this game..it was dated a bit and I wasn't sure if that was still the case.
Oh! Almost forgot. Each piece of the suit cuts radiation's effects by 1/3rd.
Why would you use a reactor at 900m when you have thermal vents all over the place?
I was just providing one random example from the top of my head. But I guess I could just as easily change that to "when you're way out on top of the enforcement island in your rad 4 dimensional phasegate linked super base" or any other time when you would want to make a nuclear reactor away from a source of fiber mesh for a new radiation suit.
Point is, there is more than one use for it, so keep it handy if you plan on doing a lot of fancy base building later :P
You can get rid of the rods by using the nuclear waste disposal. It is most likely a bug, but if you put your old rods into it and save and load they are gone ;).
Maybe something for a later update.
