You don't really need to drill too much though...

Theres a mod on nexus that speeds up the drill time, i can mine a whole deposit in about 4 seconds.

The drill taking so long is basically game dev slight of hand to trick you into thinking you're getting a worthwhile amount of material to use it.

You want your time to be worth something. So spending a solid minute even with double drills to get 12 titanium or Quarts, you lie to yourself it's a good amount for your time and tech upgrades.

While if the drill went at a proper speed have more room to realize "Wait a minute, that's only three scrap metal worth. WTF Drill arm?" and other moments of clarity.

I find the drill fine. I only use it for rare/semi rare materials (quartz is the exception because I use so much), and I just pick up scrap for titanium. It's everywhere int he safe shallows, and you just need to put a scanner room down and swim around the chunks for them to load and the scanner room to be able to pick them up. I know I seem like I'm arguing against more options here, but I just don't understand. Do you guys have massive bases all over the place or something? Then I see the need for drilling titanium deposits, but the solution would be to increase yield, wouldn't it?

while warpers yank you out of your prawn suit two or three times before you can finish one large deposit.

Good luck finding that scrap metal when you are at 1000 meters though. So, it saves a ton of time when you don't have to go back to the right zones to find it.

You really think you'd be able to gather 12 Quartz in less than a minute swimming around in the Safe Shallows? Even in a quartz-heavy biome you'd have trouble bagging the amount you can bag with the drill in the same amount of time.

It would be a pretty cool feature, but for now, we have speedup console commands and even without, it isn't that bad

Well, when people are in such a rush to defend the game's quirks they can't even get the names in the quotes they are trying to mike drop on right?

Imagine how much quartz you could collect if you put your drive towards that instead.

But even with that, "But the needlessly slow drill is fine, because other things are SLOWER!" doesn't actually... defend the fact the drill is slow. It just further highlights it.

I wouldn't mind if it was an end game upgrade. It's really not that necessary but I'd take it.

Base building is limited by your PC, since the more I build the worse the game plays I'm not so keen on building as much as I was.

So collecting all those materials is kind of useless now.

Coming to the end of the game for me. I've seen just about everything just need to do the ending and think I'll be done.

I'll be back if they do any DLC or if the patches allow base building beyond a few medium size bases without huge performance loss.

Pretty cool game. Absorbed me for a good 200 hours. Nothing left to do but build bases and that just slows the game down so yea.

there are a few things that could use endgame updates. and upgrades. the air tank, the suit, the vehicles. and some base stuff too. as far as the performance drops with large bases. they apparently fixed it. at least that is what IGP said in his video to the bottom of the void. something related to power transmitters within the base
