Or maybe for void exploration (too big for ghost leviathans to attack)
a big sub is USELESS in narrow caves, stop thinking of multicrap and use sense. the Cyclops just fits through, it turns like brick, slow as a snail, why would a sub, that is longer, wider and taller be of any use, and dont say "to fit more people" or i'll treat this as a "asking for multiplayer" thread in disguise which is unwanted.
And besides, the Cyclops already handles like a neutrally-buoyant sack of rocks, I can only imagine that a larger, bulkier sub would be even worse if anything.
Even if the Atlas' power consumption to go at such speeds wouldn't have to be an absolute b%tch to manage (in order to avoid completely breaking the Cyclops' established physics) what if you had to cross the safe shallows to get wherever you were going fast? The Cyclops already can't handle that. Something Atlas-sized probably wouldn't even be able to cross some parts of the Kelp Forests or even Grassy Plateaus.
It would make sense if this was being built as a Star Citizen type multiplayer game, but it isn't. It just doesn't fit into a hard single player experience.
