Pda pause
Curious if most of you are using the pda pause mod. Starting out must be tough if your hunger and oxygen bar is always depleting even if your searching through recipes to see what you need

I never really used it, if I had to do a lot of searching, I would just sit down on a chair where it already pauses food and water.

If I'm going to be spending a long time looking though the PDA I just either take a seat so it doesn't go down or I do it near some marblemelons. Then make a mental list of what I'm after before I go shoping.

Once you find and build a ultra high capacity tank air will have long stopped being a problem.

Just starting out? Park it in the lifepod and read. Get hungry or thirsty? Jump down and grab some fish, then go back to reading.

I did not even know this was a thing and I think this is completely unecesarry anyways

Haven't tried the game yet but this is good to know. Didn't consider that sitting will pause hunger and thirst

I like it for accessing my inventory/map/mods/whatever and not being attacked. Ie. Using a health kit while being attacked.

I don't think there is a place to sit down in the lifepod but there are so many fish swimming around that one should not have any problems staying healthy while reading.

Or you could build a base with a chair in it as soon as you build the base builder tool and read then.

As said^.
One of the first things I would recomend when starting this game up is to make a "shed" below the lifepod. Somewhere you can store all the things you can't fit in the pod itself and it also lets you put down a chair so if you need to look though the PDA you can do so without dying of thirst mid read.

It also gives you a place you can put a plant pot in for when you find growable food.

Ayup. My first "base" is a pile of titanium and such under the lifepod until I can actually build something, then it is a "tee" with a corridor full of lockers. Then a scanner room and suddenly it is smooth sailing.

Pro-Tip in case you aren't using the PSA Pause mod:

While you "sit down", you don't lose hunger and thirst.
Essentially, the game's day/night speed slows to an absolute crawl whenever you sit on a chair or bench.
That's probably how it was intended for you to take the time to review all those entries in your PDA.

Right on, ya found out about this after starting the thread. I ended up not using the mod. Thanks for the info
