1. Take note of landmarks around a leviathan/wreck.
2. Pay very close attention to the sounds. (Especially how reapers and ghosts sound; they have very distinct noises from far away. Ghost sounds like someone hacking up phlegm from far away, and reaper is like a high-pitched lions' roar.)
3. If you notice one nearby, you can circle-strafe them and escape.
4. Always keep a stasis rifle/repulsion cannon on you if you get caught.
5. Pay really close attention to what you see. Any unusual movement from far away, no matter the color, is likely a leviathan. They actually spawn extremely far away, farther than terrain 2 out of three times.
1. the land is barren in reaper territory, the only signifiers like wreaks is after yuo are already very deep into it, thing is that the area close to the underwater islands is barren and so is the area seperating the grand reef from the red grass area, cant tell if i and close the the grand reef, underwater mountains, map edge (aka void) or reapers zones.
2.the sounds are messed up they wil always sound far wawy untill they are a few feet from you.
3. they appear suddenly, by the time they make a sound, they are already super close and usally grab you before you even have time to realize.
5. rarely do you see them, they normally sound quite before suddenly sounding very close and before you even react, they are grabbing you from behind. they like to appear from behind you or from the sides or from above and if you actually do see it then you are more then likely surround by many of them because after seeing one another one ends up attacking from behind.
You can place a large amount of beacons, name each and every one individually and change their coloring.
I placed red colored beacons as markers where i heard reapers. I also used outpots with sensor rooms and the cameras to scout the area ahead before physically moving into them.
I really don't see the need for a map. Sensor room with hud uplink can help you find resources you need. Sensor room with range uplink give you an idea of the topography.. even though it doesn't show a few things.
And placement of beacons, which are cheap to produce, help keeping track in a 3 dimensional space.
I find using beacons much more fitting to the type of game, especially since you are moving in 3 dimensions.
I might be misinterpreting your words here, but wouldn't you want to set your graphics to minimal settings in order to ensure that things render more quickly?
