Mushroom Forest north-west of the life pod is a good place to find Gel Sacks, and doesn't require any significant depths. You can, however, find both Gel Sacks and Rubies at the south-west Blood Kelp zone, going right down the cliffside from the entrance to it.

You dont find aerogel, it is crafted using a gel sack and ruby

It's an intermediate material constructed at a fabricator. You need a gel sack (small, inconspicuous purple ball-shaped plant) and a mineral type found primarily in the south. I could "spoil" it more if you don't particularly need the thrill of discovery.

You need to craft aerogel, you can't find it.

It requires gel sack https://i.ytimg.com/vi/bWn4EjVydA8/maxresdefault.jpg which you can find in certain biomes like the grand reef where it's abundant and everywhere and rubies which are often found in the same biomes as gel sacks.

Should I also say "You have to craft it from a Gel Sack and a Ruby" or should I not... Hmm...

If only there was a Internet Search ability! Just imagine having the ability to type "subnautica aerogel" and getting instant information. Oh well, maybe someday someone will invent Google.

"Google"?
When I find something, I usually yell "Yahoo!".
My sister tends to say "Bing!" like she scored a point in a game or something.

you could just wait until you get a radio signal from Officer Keen. That will take you right to a place to find both ruby and gel sacs.

You can also whack the first one you see with a knife and grow it in an outdoor growbed, never having to worry about collecting it from then on.

If you already picked it up before hitting it with a knife, just put the grown one inside a growbed and hit it with the knife.

So violent! I bet you're one of those types who asks for deadly weaponry to be added!

I did find two of them, but have 6 now growing in growbed. Only found two covered alot of ground, did find a blueprint I was missing, still having a hard time finding three parts for the cyclops.
