If it is the latter then take a screenshot in-game (not with F12) and name it something easy to remember but also very distinct like your name. Then exit or minimize your game, open Windows Explorer and do a search for the name you game your screenshot. You will be shown the file in your Search results. Right-click on it and select "Open File Location." Once you are there, find out what kind of file your screenshot is (.jpeg, .bmp, .png, etc.) and then keep that location open. You can either pin the folder to your desktop or Start menu or you can pin it to QuickAccess if you have Windows 10. Convert whatever image you want to put into your game into the same file type that your screenshot is and then put the image into that folder.
That should work.
I searched up screenshots but its in the SNUnmanagedData

You are not supposed to look in your slot folders. The Screenshots folder has been moved out of the main Subnautica folder and into a folder within your AppData folder, which is a hidden folder inside your Documents folder.
