I don't think so. Dead fish and (at least some) plant matter seems to disappear after a while, but most objects seem to persist forever.

ugh so all the crap that I accidentally get and drop will just make a pile under my pod? lol

You can make a garbage or a nuclear disposal. Items placed in them are deleted. Also a bio reactor eats organic items.

Didn't your momma tell you not to litter?
Sorry, i had to :D

Beware tho, sometimes the objects passes through the ground and falls into the void of nothingness. You should avoid litering as a reliable storage.

Organic items and Old/Rotten items can also work well with the Bio Reactor. Once I had water filtration I just started using the salt to cure food and avoid that problem, but I did figure out you could put old cooked food into the Bio Reactor after finding some in a storage container.

Sorry if this reply late for this discussion.

Eggs I've dropped in a pile since beginning the game haven't despawned.

Objects don't despawn but they may glitch through the map so be mindful of that if you intend to pick it up later. Accumulating clutter can also have an effect on performance. It's better to store stuff inside inventories where it's just a type and a number, not on the world map where it's an object to be rendered. If you're out of inventory space build more large lockers; it's 2 titanium + 1 quartz for 48 slots and you can fit an awful lot of them in a single multipurpose room.

If you absolutely have no use for something then at least put it into a trash can which deletes the object, or if it's biological then compost it for energy. Don't litter the sea darnit! :steamhappy:
