Multiple scanner rooms?
How do multiple scanner rooms operate in conjunction with the scanner room HUD?
Do they work as an extension? (More scanner rooms, higher range)
If not what determines which scanner room is the "master"?
Thanks for the help.

i use more than 1 scanner room. 4 right now and plan to expanding.
dont think they give more range but will show you more than one item at a time on your hud

If there placed close together then its just a waste of resources, build one then craft scan size and speed upgrades and craft the Hud upgrade, search for what you want and depending on the size of the scan area and speed your screen will soon will loads of blips.

The hud chips pick up data from any scanner rooms up to a certain range (I think its 450 meters?). Scanner rooms scan for the item set in them in the range they are capable of according to upgrades or lack thereof.
It can get crowded with multiple scanners in range so remember you can just take the hud chip off.

No its obviously not.

Can you not see the value of tracking two or more resources at once?

i find it usefull to have more than one scanner room in an area with multible types of resources. that way i dont have to return to the scanner room and reset it to search for another resource

I never see the need to make more than one. I can find everything I need with one scanner, and then mov eit if I need to. Plus, swapping drones with muliple scanner rooms is still bugged. As for the OPs question, none of them act as a HUB or the MAIN. Each one runs independantly.

Is one scanner per biosome sufficient? Either way I guess I'll have to relocate scanning room once exploring is done for a biodome?

How u do it?

So far I have scanners in areas with unique resources. For instance, in the blood kelp area I have a scanner so I can track uranium faster.

I use one scanner room moved through three different areas until I hit end game. Safe shallows, Mountain Island, and North BKZ. Once I have the prawn with the drill arm the scanner room is just a glorified beacon machine. Mining nodes are everywhere that deep.

though to be fair on this playthough I haven't even build once scanner room and I've had no trouble finding the resources I need.

Only time I find the scanner room useful is in biomes where I'd rather be watching for leviathans than checking around for resources. Well, that and playing with stalkers.

I built multiple scanner rooms at separate bases but when trying to use the cameras the distance from the scan room defaulted to the original room I built. This meant that the cameras that were 2 to 3 metres away registered as nearly 950 metres away meaning they were nigh-useless because I couldn't see anything.

If you want to hunt for multple items within the range of the scanner, then having multiple scanner rooms operating in the same area would make sense.

To be honest, ^This. It's a single-player game, play however you want but if you need multiple Scanner Rooms to find the stuff you need IMHO you're missing out on the joys of exploration and discovery that make Subnautica so special. Searching for stuff and finding a little tucked-away cave network you'd never have found otherwise is half the fun IMHO.

That said, to answer "How do I move my Scanner Room to a new location?" just deconstruct it, carry the building materials to a new location and build it again.

Also, the new(ish) Map mod on Nexus adds a feature where (if you have the Scanner Room HUD chip installed in your noggin) you pull up the map and middle-mouse-button click on the Scanner Room and can remotely change what's being scanned for. That eliminates the need for multiple overlapping Scanner Rooms (if there ever was such a need).
