I agree. They could even add an exclusive power source where you gain power throught movement in the water.

And what if the Reefbacks don't *want* a base on their back? SAVE THE REEFBACKS!

"ok so ive got my base on that reefback" ( plays game after a few days away) "where the hell is that reefback i built on? my base has swam away."

I may (probably) have just heard rumors, or unconfirmed things from around the community, but I heard the developers wanted to add this very early on in the game, but couldn't due to how difficult it would be, and there are also many problems with this, the reefback swimming away, you clipping all over the place, etc. It pretty much just goes on. And performance would be a big one in terms of this.

I forsee some issues that would come off of this.. mainly in the department of performance.

Another thread on this same topic someone just talked about yesterday? No, building on the back of a Reefy wouldn't be smart since they are highly unpredictable in their movement patterns. Plus, it's a creature. How are you going to securely stablize your foundation on it without hurting the Reefback with implanted spikes?

@CaptainFearless Please show me where the devs said they wanted to make this a thing in the past. I've been with the game from October 2014 and started officially playtesting for the devs mid 2015. At no time did they mention anything about this idea. Even the "Minimum Viable Subnautica" document from 2015 doesn't say anything about that in concerns to the Reefback.

Agreed here.

Ah, sorry. I may have just heard it around, I do not know if this was confirmed by the devs, let me edit my post.

That said building a base on the back of a Reefback would be awsome.
