Silver Ore: any tips on efficient way to get?
Oh boy.
Literally the hardest to get uncommon resource.
Like... Certain resources are an issue because of how deep down they appear, but once you'll get there - you can stock up for life.
Meanwhile finding SIlver - one of the most useful resources out there probbably - in decent amounts is a huge problem.
I can't point down any decent places for Sandstone hunting and even when you find it - every 2/3 drops is gold, which is only half as useful as silver.

So yeah. Basically i need any good idea on where to find silver easily without going through hell and back to get it.

Green barnacles on the reefbacks.
Crack them open and grab the surprise.
I usually find copper, gold and silver in those.
Maybe RNG is on your side.
I find sandstone most easily/predictably on the walls in Kelp forests. It is never on the sea floor so if you see a deposit there it is almost always limestone. otherwise if you have access to the Prawn and the drill arm there are large deposts I've found kinda on the border between the grassy plateau and dunes. Hope that helps

Silver and gold ... https://youtu.be/CirrRY_6aaU :rocketrat:

I usually find a lot of silver, gold, lithiuum, copper and Mercury around Precursor island. :rocketrat:

This is where I found all my silver. Caves and tunnels are loaded with it above ground.
I found a huge thermal vent on the border of the Eastern kelp forest and the safe shallows. Along the inside of the thermal vent are little cubby holes with several deposits. That is my go-to spot for a quick 2-3 silver.

Yeah, i know of that place, but after sandstones refused to respawn i forgot about it.
They just wouldn't respawn, at all.

Outcroppings never respawn Artek.

And just out of curiosity, what do you consider a "decent amount" for a silver hunting run?

There's very few of it. And it's RNG based, i almost always get more gold than silver.

Decent amount? I don't know... At least 20. That's 5 wiring kits, 5 chips and 5 advanced wiring kits.

I'm thinking back over the past few Builds and I don't think it's ever been reasonable to expect to find 20 silver that quickly. It got really scarce in the previous build - you'd be lucky to get 6-8 on a single run. This build is a little more forgiving, I was able to get 13 while recording a 1-hour video by looking in Creepvine forests and Thermal Vents - I think that's probably about the best you can hope for in the current Build.

Well the thing is everything else is MUCH harder to get. Silver is the rarest material in the game right, together with stalker teeth.
Only at least you know where to find stalkers and what to do to get their teeth after that it's pure RNG.
But silver? First you have to find where sandstones are (and they are the rarest resource chunks because limestone is common as heck and everything else pretty much grows in monopoly in the right areas that you just need to find). And THEN you also have to gamble with RNG for 50/50 gold/silver, and for some reason i usually get 2 gold per 1 silver.
Which is truly taunting, because gold is like twice less useful than silver, unless you are going to craft hell ton of advanced wiring kits, in which case 2/1 works perfectly.

20 isn't nearly enough to cover a lot of stuff you want, i know because i collected more from the underground tunnels under the creepvine zones and i quickly run out due to how specialised the whole thing is and another thing, table coral gets sparse pretty quickly the more adv. wiring kits and computer chips you make.

now i have been able to check those vents plus the grassy plateau borders along the dunes zone and some tunnels leading towards a specific jellyshroom cave that only has one shroom in it and it has a single crabsnake egg in it. when you look around enough along a number of locations you can easily get into the 30-40 silver mark within a few hours of searching.

Yes there are simple ways to get enough in which you require. I don't know the correct biome name, but you know the grassy area with the Stalkers and vine samples? If you can find parts in there that go deep down and below jellyfish or even in miniature caves, there will be a pretty good amount of deposits you can check crack open and loot. Remember, they're in sandstone deposits along with gold, the limestone is lead, copper, and titanium. That's probably the easiest way to get them.

At least the devs have finally realized and admitted that this longstanding issue there have at this point, likly been literally thousands of threads over... Is an actual problem they need to fix.

Considering how much "Nuh uh, I got over 20 silver on my first try! You looking for hours and busting open 40 sandstone only to get seven silver just means you are not trying hard enough!" has been the response from the most vocal of their playerbase, no wonder it's taken them so long to realize, though.

The last one of these threads I read, you even got a guy going "LOL just use the Prawn Suit's drill arm for silver!"... Which, kinda of requires you to have already gotten piles and piles of silver to own such a thing.

Then again, another popular comment is to tell people struggling with battery supply before they have unlocked the battery charger or mod statio so they can't just recharge them or make charge fins... to use the battery charger or mod station to make charge fins anyways.

theres are 3 types of "Rocks" in the game that you get resources from
Limestone, Sandstone, and Basalt. Sandstone can drop silver and i usually find it near creepvine forests.

You don't need that much silver to make a prawn. If your to the point that you need 20 pieces of silver, you should already have the prawn and drill arm.

Most of the time you need silver is for computer chips, and it's one silver per chip. Between the two thermal vents and a few trips to the kelp forests, you should be able to find all the silver you need until you unlock the prawn and moonpool fragments you need to build the drill arm. The vehicle mod station isn't even a problem anymore, Aurora is loaded with them.
