what gender actually is the character?

so I looked down when piloting the Cyclops (to look for a beacon marker) and saw that the character appeared female, despite sounding male (unless it's a guy that has his head thrust back)

It's a dude, perspective is a bit wonky when you look straight down and the player model itself is kinda.... rubbery

Yeah, they stated awhile back that they were planning to, but it wasn't a priority. They could have gone back on that as it wasn't promised.

I'm answering this, then closing it to avoid drama.

There will not be a female selectable character at release. We may do that after 1.0, we've done a lot of work on it already, but it still needs a lot of work so right now we're going to finish the game as-is.

Okay, go look at your first comment though. Sounds like you should have said there will be no female character UNTIL post 1.0. It's even on Trello

Actually no, the developers didn't SAY that they'll release a female model *after* 1.0. They said that they MAY do that after 1.0. When a person says 'may' that doesn't mean you can automatically translate that into 'yes', may means just that - might happen, might not. So Cou' is correct in his statement that there won't be any female models, as it has been specified by the devs that - right now - there won't be.

nobody actually is. SOME people (who actually care about trivial stuff like that) care about the character NOT having hooters.

Fair point, but simply stating that there won't be no female character period is spreading misinformation. It's like a headline where you click the article and turns out the content says the exact opposite. The devs have not said there won't be a female character either, so the correct response would be that the devs are considering implementation of a female character post 1.0, though there is no certainty that it will happen as of right now.

There is only one way to view yourself I know of - build the scanner room and use a camera drone to look into the scanner room and see yourself. And I am pretty sure that was a "dude" I saw in there.
