Map Generator!
A module connecting to the base (like the scanner room) that holds a large interactive map of the game, showing areas discovered and locations of bases/beacons/scanner rooms/etc. So you can plan where to go for areas you haven't been and help with discovering key blueprints to progress with the game. Upgrades like a connection to the scanner room could be made to detail the map more and an upgrade to the hud suit chip from the scanner room (hard to make) to generate a smaller localised map for personal use.

Wish you can scroll though the map of the area of each scanner room you have without having to travel to its location but cannot scan them.

I totally agree with your idea. Hope they do it.

DISCLAIMER: I have *not* tried this and do not vouch for it but apparently this mod will display a "live" map showing your location by pulling up the Steam Overlay:

To be honest, I don't know what a map would do that the scanner-room couldn't do already.

Provide a full visual of the map that isn't otherwise available.

I like the idea. Would be good addition to a DLC package.

I'd take it a bit further and say you have to launch a few GPS satellites in different areas or something so it can ping your location etc. Then you could have a map on the PDA that's connected to it....

So much YES on this one.

Show you where you haven't been?

You'd think being in the middle of nowhere, not to mention the other technologies available at their disposal, the Aurora would've come equipped with at least very rudimentary mapping capabilities. It's just so completely out of sync with the rest of their skillset.

It was brought up numerous times during the development process and the devs made a conscious decision *not* to give us an in-game map. I doubt it could have been that difficult to code, more likely they want to encourage us to explore and not just stick to the same paths over and over.

It would also kinda hard to pull off with all those Caves and such.

So being able to fabricate base modules from raw titanium pieces you get, but mapping caves, no, that'd be too difficult? :\

you need eyes in the sky to make maps, either photographic or radar, and any satalite around the planet would get shot down. And for the other way to make maps you need a clock and a sextant, and pencil and paper.

I suppose the easyest would be a drone with a camera, that follows you and has ocean penetrating radar that maps whats beneath the water.
