Beacon renaming issue while in VR
Anyone know how to do this?, I can get to the field to enter a name on the beacon, but the cursor in VR is just outside area to select to enter name, so I am unable to type anything in. Thanks

I'm also getting the same issue, not found a fix so far sorry. It used to be fine in a previous update as far as I could tell. If someone knows an alternate way to rename beacons it would be really helpful.

After doing a bit of messing around, I was able to to rename the beacons from the game files. I would advise backing up your saves if you want to do this because I have no clue if it might mess things up. Just go to your Subnautica files and navigate to SNAppData/SavedGames/slot0005 (Your slot number might be different, just look around for the correct one). Then open the global-objects.bin with a text editor. ctrl find for beacon and you'll see different entries with garbled text and then your beacon names. Edit the names to change the ingame names.

Well done 27chandler!

Would you consider also making a thread about this workaround in the Oculus/Vive subforum (subforums are listed on the right side of the Main page).

Very helpful, nice work. :steamhappy:

I found it was just easier and less likely to break the save to just load in standard mode and bomb around to all of the beacons and rename them. only need to do it once every so often.

Thanks, I went ahead and copied my post over to the subforum :D

Archon, last time I tried loading into standard mode it wouldn't let me, unless that has changed recently. But if it works for you then thats great.

guess it depends how you load it, if you load it from within steam you get a choice "play subnautica or launch in steam VR mode", the game icon on the desktop does not give that option.

eww. this cant be as originally intended. although this is really good to know that we can do this and change our beacons names without actually having to go all the way back out to the beacon. if u ask me we should be able to adjust the beacons name from the beacon itself and from our pda's so we can do it remotely too. i mean in all fairness we only see them because the pda recieves the signal and displays it in ur goggles or visor

Wow and three months later this isn't fixed? I know VR mustn't be a priority but this isn't even a bug it's just an oversight.
