I live under the ocean in real life
I live in the Global intelligence agency undersea base HQ mariana trench division and play video games most of the time. I probably shouldn't have told you guys that, but you won't believe me anyway so whats the harm? It's just a joke right?? Theres NO way possible the cyclops would be able to dive as far as it does in real life with all that glass. TRUST ME i know what its like being 35 thousand feet under and the tiny bulletproof windows in the shuttle gets a crack from the pressure.

This is special sci-fi glass.

Based on my own experience of government contracts, this is completely plausible. That guy playing Galaga was the most realistic thing on the SHIELD Helicarrier.

I'd assumed the prawn suit windows were a transparent metal, or possibly industrial diamond. If you can warp around the galaxy building stable wormhole gates, you probably have better material science than Earth, 2017.

Actually in 50 years or so there will be artificial diamond-like building materials available to mankind, but will in no way be clear enough to see through. Maybe in HUNDREDS of years sol will get hand me down access to a clear but diamond tough building material. Thats a big IF because we basically get table scraps here in terms of old bleedthrough tech.

normal, 150 - 200 meter SS, dives to at least 2k now, Cyclops, with materials from the future, as well as not being so big compared to those sweet big military ones, can withstand 1k at most. Wich is perfectly viable (there where divings to up to 6k by now WITH window's ya know?).

So basicaly: Dont tell lie's about your life dude, reality showed us already that something like the cyclops can exist and with 1k maximum depth its totaly legit (with the lengh of 40 meter wich she has compared to those massive nuclear SS that the world uses now or the small 10 meter SS that dive way beyond 1k meter depth). Remember, your a TEEN in this game, not older than 16 years, he is 1.60 - 1.70 m heigh so NATURALY the cyclops looks big to him. It realy is not and has only 1 glass window btw. wich is perfectly shaped. Only thing the dev's cant posibly put in is that the glass is the weakest spot, wich would break by any attack from those animals in an instant.

A wonder that you complain about the SS thou, a human being would literarely splash if he takes a dive at 1k without preperation, not to mention we go down to 1.6k in total

billions of people are projected to die, but don't worry humanity will survive, but will have to go through major changes. If things get too bad we will probably get help from sirius or orion. Learn and teach your children how to grow food and how to revive ruined soil for growing. Learning how to breed and get accustumed to consuming insects will save millions of lives.

Hey guy, where did you find this? based on the quick look (will watch entire thing later) it seems quite informative and to the point. I am interested in purusing other material by them.

This.

In the game, humans have progressed (hundreds of years ago it seems) to a space-faring race with the ability to reorder matter with commonplace energy fabricators.

Glass isn't fragile anymore.

This is the same game where you can build things with handheld 3D printers so why question it? Magic future science ftw.

Clearly we're dealing with some form of transpairsteel

Alternatively, transparent aluminum

The Cyclops uses enameled glass. Whatever that is (and who here really knows yet) could be strong enough to do the job. Enamel is the hard material found in teeth, BTW, so I am thinking it coats the glass and adds to its durability. But there are manned submersibles today with glass windows that are exploring the bottom of the ocean so it may not be that much of a stretch if you have the right material.

Star Trek would call it Transparent Aluminium, lol

Perhaps, doesn't change the fact that what little of it I saw is spot on, and here is the REALLY good part, all this bs could have been avoided 20 - 30 years ago, its not like we didn't have warnings and plenty of time to act.

So, Johnny. ZFG on the rest of this thread.

What's Elvis really like?
Mharr Jul 10, 2017 @ 12:46pm
Not saying it won't suck for billions of people, myself included, but we've had malthusian existential risks before, as a species. If it's possible to science our way out of something at the last minute, we'll do it. We just like to exhaust all the stupid options first.

Perspective: I grew up in a world that was basically resigned to dying in a nuclear fireball if you were lucky. The old rich guys are still flat-footed that we're all still alive, they didn't have any plans for this.
