Then I found a wreck in the kelp forest between lifepods 6 and 3... and still no compass.
I didn't find any databoxes at either of these wrecks, just a PDA and lots of pieces of objects to scan. Helpful stuff, but not the compass.
Phaota, I'm quite confused by all the terminology though... I don't know where the blood grass biome is, and I'm not sure what you mean by mentioning both lifepods. Are there two compass locations? Are you sure your information is up to date?
Thank you!
In my game (not in the experimental build) there was no compass near Lifepod 6 or 3. I did however find it deep inside a wreck in a Kelp Forest that I had never even seen before, which is in a completely different direction than anything I had ever gotten coordinates to. I ended up having to just use the wiki to look up the coordinates. Your directions make more sense now, but I didn't realize you were listing different possible locations, which was confusing.
Is it normal to only have Lifepod signals for 3, 6 and 17 at this point in the game? It just seems like the game should have advised me to go in this direction at some point if there was something as important as the compass out there. I think it was about 300-400 meters from my lifepod in the exact opposite direction of Lifepods 3 and 6 (they were about 600-800 meters from me when I found the compass).
For example, the closest data box for the Repulsion gun upgrade (A VERY important survival tool) is triggered by.... biolding a bio-reactor. (Which surprised Sqeauls when I mentioned it, but it's true).
Signal for Lifepod 19, which is right under floater island. Triggered by crafting a mobile vehichle bay. Which... you probaly may have not even made due to not knowing about anything far enough away to even warrant more than a seaglide. So the place you'd want to build a seamoth to reach faster, you don't get told about until-oh no ive gone cross eyed.
The compass being something you need to unlock is already a bizzare "locking stuff for the sake of locking stuff" situation. But you are hardly alone in having issues locating where they hid it this time around even after having built every vehichle and a nuclear reactor powered base.
Throw in the performance and pop-in issues, and you've got a recipe for disaster to anybody trying to progress through honest exploration. Even WITH the signal for the mentioned lifepod 19, it still didn't render until I was about to crash my seamoth into the ground last time I went after it.
And that's with trying to find it with an obvious signal locater, imagine how many lifepods, wrecks, fragments, and entire islands you may have not noticed simply due to draw distance. (keep your eye towards the sky when you head for lifepod 19. you'll see the awkwardly hanging in the air remains of a Degrasi base hanging in the sky long before the island itself starts to render)
Aside from cheating it in, if it isn't at any of the lifepods or at any wrecks that I can find after hours of searching... how can I find it?
Although personally, I don't find it to be that helpful. The Aurora makes a fine navigational marker, as do the numerous nav points you get naturally throughout the course of the game. Plus, I've downloaded a mod that adds in a map, which is far more useful than a simple compass.
(Lol bad joke am I right?)
