Where's the Silver Deposits?
So I just got the PRAWN, and strapped a drill arm on it. Got all the blueprints. Just gotta get a crapload of silver for all the computer chips, wiring kits and such, and i'm set to really push towards the end-game. Just gotta find some of those Large Silver Deposits, and mine them.

..........

...............................

Uh, where are they? Is that it? No, that's lead. Is that it? No, that's also lead.

Is tha-no, that's Copper.

I can't seem to find the silver deposits. I've already emptied out a lot of the caves for silver, and i'm still a bit strapped. I got bad RNG, and got mostly gold out of those sandstones.

I looked at the Crash Zone, there's no silver there. Wiki says there's supposed to be silver there. ONLY LEAD. What gives? Is this really part of the new balance? If so, then i'm so done with this game being stingy with Silver for the umteen-hundredth time.

Please use Search before starting a new thread. You're not the only one having trouble finding silver, there are many existing threads on this topic.

I know there's a bajillion threads on silver ORE. I'm not complaining about that, however. What i'm talking about is the minable silver DEPOSITS having seemingly disappeared altogether. Two places that they supposedly exist in, according to the wiki, no longer exist.

Trying to be more specific here.

Why is this not reflected in the wiki tho?

Nobody's talking about that.

Go update the Wiki please. This stuff changes from Build to Build - it's up to us to keep the Wiki up to date.

You know I went through my entire playthrough without finding the Dunes? I don't see the logic in removing the Silver Deposits from the Crash Zone and Grassy Plateaus. I have no motivation to get a PRAWN until ultra-late-game now.

Devs really should add them back. This is nutty for such a vital resource.

Thermal vents - don't go into the lava - just do the top level caves. If you get a little hurt, don't freak - it's probably like 1 point of damage, just move relatively fast, get your silver and get out.

Oh yeah... and pray for a mining attachment to your PRAWN Suit.

Well, actually, I do know where the Miner Arm for the PRAWN is.

What killed it for me was that the deposits are now in the DUNES. Reaper Central. Also, it's way out of the way, and easy to miss entirely.

Additionally, heat damage is a bit quicker than that. It is in bursts of 1-3 damage, but there's not much time between ticks.

My issue with this issue is that resources in the game are generally common if you find/know where to go get them. Except Silver, which is a lotto where you mostly get piles of crap you don't need, don't want, and won't ever need. It adds nothing but tedium to an otherwise good experience.

Our survivor can make batteries out of coral, fabricate a complex submarine out of a handful of simple mats, build elaborate bases, recycle bodily fluids to drink, etc. But dude can't find silver any other way than via prospecting and RNG.

IMO instead of Titanium redundant blueprints should give up silver. :)

Yeah the only significant silver mineable nodes I found were on the border of the mushroom forest and the dunes, near the giant pit. Mined out 3 nodes, which was more than I needed the rest of that save. Suuposedly the devs are changing the ratio from 75% gold/ 25% silver to 50%/50%. Really should be 75%/25% IMO, considering you also get gold from other nodes.

One wrinkle I forgot until a recent playthrough - non-respawning minerals kinda suck if you die! Especially rare/hard to find ones like Silver.

Yes. Which is why making the only significant silver source be on the Reapers' DOORSTEP is legitimately horrendous.
