Have you ever looked at your legs? They're more than half of your body, they need space.

Yes but that is a ton of space I have given him and also he could put his legs under the table.

the computer doesn't see the space under the table, only the space beside it. to the computer, the table is a solid cylinder

Because Chair is OP in the current Build. The devs are looking at reducing the Relaxation factor by at least 20 Relaxes. Until then, sitting is considered an exploit.

Either it's a bug, or the survivor likes to put his feet up.
Is there any point in sitting down?
It would be nice to have an autopilot on the Cyclops. There appears to be a scanning and mapping console which currently has no use on the bridge right now along with two other consoles one of which could easily be replaced by two light switches and the other only allows you to customise the colour and name of your Cyclops.
Getting a small scanner system, possibly an RC camera control system or if we're really lucky a RC submersible with some cargo capacity and one arm to grab things and the ability to set an autopilot to somewhere on the map.
If there was an autopilot system and sitting down meant you used less food+water than standing a chair might actually be useful.
If putting an autopilot in place sitting could give you passive health regeneration though with the massive abundance of medkits (seriously with four magic medkit makers you can fill a locker with them in no time at all) this wouldn't be very useful.

The current 'autopilot' on the cyclops (wedge or weigh the W key down with something) is somewhat lacking.

In fact there is - you do not lose Food or Water while sitting - so I like to sit on a bench in my Observatory and read all the latest Encyclopedia entries I've unlocked, look over my Blueprints, read the PDAs I've picked up, etc.
