Any way to disable HOTAS?
So I just tried this game out and found myself constantly running forwards. I'm assuming it's my HOTAS. Is there any way to disable input from it or select what controller will provide input. Really not looking to disconnect it being that I use it regularly.

Duh.

Duh what? This doesn't tell me anything.

This is a potential problem for any game that accepts input from multiple controllers, been around for decades. Unless you can find a way to disable it yourself using its dedicated software (assuming there is any), you're gonna have to unplug it. I know that sucks (believe me) but IMHO this game is worth the physical effort of unplugging a cord.

It tells you that HOTAS is NOT supported.
Or maybe you're doing something wrong, but I'm pretty sure you'll be adamant that that's not the case.

He's not trying to use the HOTAS Tim - it's sending unwanted inputs - he just wants to disable it without climbing under his desk to unplug it.

There's a USB devices thingamajig in the task bar, clicking on that and disconnecting the HOTAS that way might work.

Damn. Well going for refund then. Was already a bit wierded out by the anti-gun thing but I'm not going to deal with plugging/unplugging my system after taking all this time to get it to the point where I physically don't have to. I'm on a flight sim every other day or so and having to connect/reconnect is a pain, especially with IL-2 doing its thing where it uses device input numbers rather than device names (so it can easily mix up the throttle with the joystick).

Thanks for your time guys.

I got to the same point with GTA5 - fun game but juggling controllers every other day was too much of a pain for me.

Any fix for this yet? I'm about to refund the game for the same reason, but was hoping someone might have found a solution since I've heard this is a pretty great game. A shame it doesn't have better PC support...

Can’t you temporarily disable the controller in device manager?

One could use the front USB controllers. Full ATX Towers have them, you just have to connect the leads to your MOBO. Don't all pre-builts have front end USB connectors? Or am I living back in the late 00s?

Hell, my HAF-X has firewire ports and eSATA on the front of the case.

Most HOTAS come with software that provide a method using a few mouse clicks to turn your HOTAS off or make it unmapped. Making games not recognize the device. Or what I do is map only the throttle bottons to keep hands off keyboard, and unmap any axis that might interfere with the game. This game required unmapping the actual throttle axis.

The bad part is the developer who thinks once a device is selected that is the only device the player will use. Turing off your mouse in game if you decide to use a controller to drive, but prefer m/kb for on foot. These type of devs come from the console generation where they can't think past the limitations the consoles had and allow something more suitable for PC games and gamers. Luckily we don't see that here. They've given us good control of how we can use our devices, not perfect but good enough.....if you know how to utilize the software to make the game work for your desired controls.

My PC does have front USB ports, but I'm using a full Volair Flight Sim chair where the HOTAS wiring is run down the length of the chair and terminates into a USB hub just past my feet. I'd have to undo about 12 velcro ties to move the ports to the front, and even then I only have one free port in the front (other one is used for my wireless mouse) and I'd need 3 ports (for joystick, throttle, and pedals).

Thanks for the tip though.

I can, but disabling the HID devices requires a reboot to take effect. I also have to disable 3 device manager entries each (USB, HID, and Bulk) for my pedals, joystick, and throttle. So it ends up requiring 18 clicks and a reboot every time I want to fire this game up.

Thanks for the advice though.
