Empty Wrecks?
Am I the only one who has found two empty (well, one semi empty - just some furniture, the other one completely empty) wrecks? Is this intended? The wrecks in question are: Grand Reef (this one was completely empty. Not a single item inside. Just several doors to cut open with absolutely no loot at all in any room. The second in Mushroom forest or whatever the Laggy McShroomLag biome is called just had a bit of furniture, but no blueprints of any kind.

Working as intended, or is my game ♥♥♥♥♥♥?

I got the exact opposite bug, all the doors and scan-ables are there but no actual wreck. I can swim freely to everything and see what is in the wreck from a distance.

This game is infuriating.

Have the same bug. Empty wrecks everywhere and alot of doors to cut. Sometimes there's like a stack of doors on each other. Most I've had is 4

Stacked doors means cache corruption so you should probably delete it.

Empty wrecks can happen for two reasons, one is a bug where fragments are not spawning. Try deleting cache. If that doesn't fix it you'll probably need to start a new save.

The other reason is ligimate. If you already have the blueprints that would be found in that crash then nothing spawns. When you first approach a wreck it goes through what blueprints you already have and tries to only give you what you don't have yet. At least that's what my experinece has been. Once I find a blueprint for something I never seem to find those fragments in another wreck.

I don't have stacked doors (had it to begin with, but started deleting savegames before re-saving). Just empty wrecks. Not sure if it matters, but the precursor containment facility (the one 800m below the surface with the visible damage) didn't have any datalinks at all either.

I do not believe that the game is that smart. Wrecks are still full of pieces of stuff that I already have the blueprints for. When you scan them they just give you metal instead of blueprint pieces.

Coming here 3 years later, I've just found the Grand Reef wreck the OP was talking about and it's still completely empty. There are a bunch of fragments outside of the wreck but absolutely nothing inside. Like, what even is the point?

Stable or experimental branch? Experimental is doing that but stable does not, unless you are using a potato.

Stable, of course. I wouldn't be coming here if it was experimental.

I also just weirdly showed up here three years later with the same issue. I've found almost all the wrecks in the game now, and this is the only one that has been really just empty. No databox or PDA either.

Just giving this thread a nudge, Grand Reef Wreck at -865 -430 -1390 (wreck11) is still empty. Some fragments lying in the vicinity, but none of the data boxes and nothing inside but a nutrient block (totally worth cutting through 3 doors for ^^

ive seen this happen, this appears to be a world generation bug from the unity engine. its been pushed to its limits and beyond,. if this occurs save and exit ur game and delete the contents of the save files cell cache folder
Azrak Nov 3, 2020 @ 4:44am
Nope, the issue persists. There are some storage chests with nutrient blocks/water in it, but no fragments and no data box anywhere to be found inside the wreck. Thanks for that piece of advice, even though it didn't do any good. If necessary, I guess I could just spawn me the missing upgrades myself, if I don't find them anywhere else.

Edit: NW Mushroom Forest wreck is empty as well :(

I haven't played stable in months, but it did not have that problem for me. Experimental recently had that problem, but it was just me. Restarting a new game after deleting all saved games fixed it for me then.
