Suggestion: Add a calendar or day counter.
Been playing for around 35 hours on this one save and my last message was around 16 hours ago on day 154.

So I'd love to know what day it is now.

Ooo.. Calender prop please! Just a simple text gui displaying what day it is and maybe some random(ly picked from a list) alterra propeganda/imagery to go with the day.

Always looking for more decorations for homebase.

Edit: As well as probably adding it to the PDA too.

Maybe some (hot) reaper calendar models?

I would love some fancy UI clock to put on my wall. It will have this fancy way of showing were the sun is graphically. And at night a moon rises. Similar to a minecraft watch.

Even just a basic clock is something the Devs probably won't be working on, except maybe after launch...

No, I'm serious. That's not exagerated hyperbole at the Devs expense.

A working clock is currently in the trello roadmap "Maybe after launch 1.0" list alongside jetpacks, base teleporters, and entire zones of content.

A clock is a little different, we don't know that they track time apart from the suns movements. It would also require constant updating which impacts performance. The calender at least just links in to the currently already tracked (Days) and can be implemented using their already ingame text screens.

It should be a device that starts attached to the life pod. Once the pod is ejected, it starts keeping track of days and time. Kinda like a mini black box. The damage to the pod makes it so the only thing that work properly on it after the crash are the clock and date... and maybe the feature below. The recording feature is beyond repair, keeping it from being a proper black box. You can, of coarse, remove it from the pod, place it in your inventory, and move it to any other base you wish.

Could even be a way to keep track of obtained signals to replace the odd need to place them in an inventory slot... You place the signal inside the device, and in turn it sends the tracking information to your PDA, and logs the signal for you so you don't need them taking up storage spots. Only one or two traceable at any time. Even have the option to check off the location after visiting, so you know which you've been too.

If they wanted to make it so it did properly record info that could work too. Like have it so it keeps the date/time when you first enter the ship. When you create the seamoth, cyclops, etc. The date/time when you visited another pod. All stored in view-able logs.

This could also lead to you finding other pod's black boxes which could replace the pda files you find. Or give more info like telling the date/time the pod was attacked by a large life form. And when the occupant inside's life signal vanished.

Why not a wristwatch? Or add one on the pda?

Well you cant sleep unless it is night. And before every night there is a message saying "the sun is setting" I think it is tracked. It needs to be as I remember you can set time, night or day with commands as well. Adding a clock should not be that hard. Visually working clocks in the game (not as HUD elements) has existed since Zelda: Majora's mask. A late 90s/early 2000s game.

That is also a great idea. A digital clock or a visual clock on the PDA would be cool.

Diary Journal:
"Day \\\\ \\\\ \\\ .

It has been..."

Has potential, but there will need to be quite a few PDA's out there that are written out as such, or groovings in the walls.
Zanda Jun 13, 2017 @ 3:38am
all I really wanted was something in the pda that tells you the day, maybe even a new tab that just tells you how long you've been stranded.

A stats page would be cool though.

Like how many fish you've eaten, how much scrap you've turned into titanium, what motherloving day it is...
