Aquarium - What am I doing wrong?
I'm fairly new to this game. Built my first base (basic tube) and tried to put an aquarium in it--it is empty. No matter which way I turn, it won't let me place it.

I was going to try to add a multi-purpose room but I don't have the blueprint for it yet.

Any tips would be appreciated. I did search this forum and read the wiki but didn't get answer on placement or the type of structure you need for an aquarium.

I believe you need the multi-purpose room to place it.

The Aquarium just needs enough space - which is hard to come by with regular corridor pieces.

The Alien Containment Tank however can only be built in a Multi-Purpose Room.

Just tried to find that, though I was going more SW. I was 3500 km from the pod and couldn't find it. I will try again in a more southerly direction.

If you pay attention to your radio signals, the story will guide you there not long after the start of the game. Specifically a signal from Second officer Keen, it takes you right to it.

The Sunbeam exploded so I'm not getting anymore signals?

Not from the Sunbeam - maybe from the Lifepod survivors but sounds like you're past that part and have probably gotten all the signals you're going to get from the Comm Relay.

Yeah, it's from lifepod survivors, it's usually one of the first few you get.

So I'm thinking I made a mistake going to the Sunbeam? I think I might start another game now that I know a little bit more about what to do. Should I ignore the Sunbeam signal?

What happens to the Sunbeam is scripted - there's nothing you can do to prevent what happens. All you can do is delay the event by not retrieving any messages from your Comms Relay - but there's really no point in doing that unless the Sunbeam event caused you severe emotional distress.

keep in mind that fishes will not reproduce in Aquariums. You need a Multipurpose room and an Alien Containment Chamber to breed your (Fish) food. however i found that getting food from plants is more effective, at least while near base. You cant conserve the plant food, as far as i know. fish food can be salted = stays forever and bubble fish = water supplies

The sunbeam shouldn't affect other signals coming in. As far as restarting, might as well wait for the next patch if you really want to do that.

I have not received one message since the Sunbeam. Hmmmm.... Other than the Sunbeam message, I got two messages where I was given a "ping" one about Pod 3 and one about Pod 6. I'm sure I haven't had the message from Keen............. Maybe it will come in time. OK, will wait for the update.

Did you visit 3 and 6? I'm not sure if they trigger more messages coming in or not.
