I'm stumped, where are dem diamonds?

I may be doing it wrong, but I need to cut some coral, so I need some kind of cutting thing. I can't make the knife cause that requires rubber (from the seaweed, but I can't cut it either!), and the next closest thing I can craft is the lazer cutter, but this needs diamonds.

So I figure they must be in these outcroppings like titanium and copper, but the best I found are the ones that have gold and silver, and can't find any that have diamond no matter where I looked. I looked in caves, I looked down as deep as I dared to venture, I even found some kind of grassy "biome" (with a very scary massive creature at the surface that scared me far away from there), and still couldn't find any.

I even thought, maybe it's close to one of those thermal vents that keeps errupting, diamonds are supposed to be thrown out from deep inside the planets, right? So I risked the heat and explored the little cave holes in the vent, but didn't find them either :(

oh to get ruber you get the glowy seeds not the samples grab a couple of thouse and you can make silcione. and the big things in the grassy area are reefbacks, they won't hurt you. You can't get diamonds right now wait for the ship on the island there are outcrops that can rarely give you diamonds

You can find diamonds in: shale outcrop (25%) Obsidian outcrop (100%) and the basalt outcrop (Unkown)
They are found in crystal form in: Underwater islands and the deep grand reef.
You can find their large deposits in the: underwater islands, blood kelp zone (1 and 2) and the Mountains (may find a reaper leviathan.

i believe diamonds can be found on their own... look like very tall bland white crystals, and they can also pop out of basalt or higher mining rock clumps.

Easy. Diamonds are actually quite common in basalt outcrops. You can find those in the grand reef which is past the sparse reef behind the aurora, just drive your seamoth to the aurora's engines then continue to the direction they're facing. Visit the actual aurora if you want to grab a seamoth pressure compensator then break the basalt outcrops and you'll get a good amount before you know it.
