Can't find blood kelp
Can someone please give me an idea where I can find blood kelp. I've been swimming for ever looking for the damned stuff and I'm quickly loosing interest in the game. As there is no proper map and the ones off the internet are too vague can we use as a starting point the engines of the Aurora, they point in a certain direction, can you tell me where blood kelp can be found if I was swimming under the ships engines but on the surface.

There are a couple of places to go but if it was me I'd swim west from the lifepod or Aurora engines past the Creepvines, past the Red Grass until I hit the Mushroom Forest. Then I'd turn north (right) and follow the mushrooms until the end of the forest and find the Bloodkelp there. If you hit the Underwater Floating Islands you've gone too far north.

If you don't have a compass yet, on Subnautica the sun rises in the north and sets in the south.

Thanks for the info, I'll have a go.

Blood Kelp I (or West, or Trench) is slightly hard to find, given that it's just a hole in the bottom and forms a border for most of its length between the Sparse Reef and the Dunes (further on the Sea Treader's Path and the Dunes). The danger is if you go zipping around the sea floor looking for it, you could accidentally end up in the Dunes and get eaten by a Reaper. But, generally speaking, as long as you're careful and go during daylight, you can just start anywhere in the DEEP part of the Sparse Reef (west and downhill from the red-Grassy Plateau port-aft of the Aurora), and just go roughly north and you'll eventually run into it.

The Blood Kelp 2 zone is even easier to find, because it lacks its predecessor's virtue of being predator-less in most spots (it';s infested with Crabsquid). It basically borders the Floating Islands biome in the north. Just circle around the edges or go West until you find it (watch out for the Boneshark swarms; they still aggro on you from extreme render distance even if you don't provoke them).

If you're just looking to get some Blood Oil to make an armored suit (or, more likely, Deep Shrooms to make polyaniline for some vehicle upgrades), trying to find the Western trench is easier 'cause you can just get your plants, get out of there, and set up a farm at home. Note that Deep Shrooms are not exclusive to the Blood Kelp zones; they appear in the Sea Treader's Path (also peaceful and large-predator-free) at the far west end of the map, as well. Just always be careful in the west not to go too far north and get lost in the Dunes. You WILL get eaten. Use F1 judiciously to tell what biome you're in.

Lots of great advice,thank you.

To Reach the north blood kelp zone, go straight north from the safe shallows, you should pass kelp forest and underwater islands on the way. To reach the trench, you need to go to the sparse reef, and follow a small trench-like cave which eventually opens up into the trench.
