What are your settings for a more enjoyable game?
Playing on a private game it becomes pretty obvious that some of the balancing is straight up just nasty, so was wondering what settings and tweaks people has found to make their game flow more to their liking.

Some of my immediate ones are
-2x damage done, 0.5x damage taken:
i saw someone say this would mimic duo and it feels far more reasonable, although there
are still BS as anacondas takes 60% hp on one choke, and i just lost my best pawn to the
tribe chieftain who trampled us with beast bone gear. There are some insane stun timers

-No decay:
i see no point in decaying buildings, just turned it off and now i have a nice staircase
without needing bonfires

-+10, +20, +30 tribesmen
boosting how many i can have to try and automate more and more, feels like a good idea
so far still just need to get more

-Awareness exp 5x
recently put this up, i feel so hampered by the point im at and just needing to "grind"
awareness exp doesnt make sense to me, trying to get to 25 quickly so i can set up logging
and gathering stations as it feels like the spawn rate of items are pretty slow

-2x chest loot
i have zero mask energy and im so annoyed by it, not sure if i need to go further but right
now i feel like im forced to grind boring camps to allow me to use my scanning and
control mask even a little bit.

-0.1x food decay.
i see no reason for food to decay

-0.5 durability decay
i have yet to enjoy the durability system of the game, still not sure how i feel about it and
this is going up and down depending on the mood, even if i have all the items it still such
a hassle to repair, and i you cant get npcs to repair their own ♥♥♥♥ either.

-2x Barbarian taming speed
literally no reason for waiting, might turn this higher, as there is no immediate pvp fight i
can use it to cheese in getting new barbarians

-0.1 fuel consumption rate.
still not entirely convinced this actually does anything for bonfires nor for furnace.

-Max animals at 50
MONKEYS!

-Random invasion and barbarian invasion off.
havent had it happen yet but not at all interested in getting my tribesmen kidnapped

-Post respawn packet
spawns my stuff at my feet when i die, i never like the survival loop of losing your stuff,
and just needing to go get it again, always felt more tedious than punishing.

Personally i really wish i could turn off perma death for npcs and just focus on making an absolute beast army, but as it is right now its not possible, i understand that killing the first boss you can get something to help with it but as mentioned im getting trounced by the chieftain, so dunno what gear level is expected for it.

any specific settings you have found just makes sense?

I find the game find with just
decay set to 0.1 (replacing tools every 2 mins was a pain)
taming set to x3
crafting speed to x3

My NPC that harvests, mines or logs wood. I controlled them and leveled up there weapons first, so they no longer get captured. So I really do not need to worry about any attacks at the moment, since they only seem to attack your NPC that go out of your main base

do you manual craft or get tribesmen to do it?

kinda curious about the "automated craft output modifier" which seems to focus more on tribesman crafting.

I never craft, I just use planned crafted for everything. My clan does all the work, while I am out mining tin/copper or finding new better skills clan members.

The x3 crafting speed was so they crafter faster (which means they level faster) Never really have any resource issues if you set up the supply chain right. The only thing is, I play solo, but on a server, so my clan is working 24/7. I log on, to way too many resources.

As for your other setting
-0.1 fuel consumption rate.
You want lots of fire ash, and you will have endless branches, so just have all fires using branches, no need for this (it will cause you to run out of fire ash)

-0.1x food decay.
I have the defaults, with monkeys and crops you have insane food anyway, I do not see the need in this, but no harm in it either

-Post respawn packet
This one is useful, but I prefer to have death mean something but I have almost broken keyboard over a jaguar camping my death packet, so I do recommend that setting but I do not use it

-Exp rates
Each to their own on this, I keep the default but then I play for hours on end at my own pace.

-Tribesmen and Animal cap
If solo, max this out as long as it does not cause lag

Does fuel consumption do anything ? I feel like for bonfires a stack of 300 braches still only lasts 9 hours.

The setting you are looking for is [Bonfire Burning Speed Coefficient] under the Building tab

atm, disable decay, disable repair, lower monster damage to .2. my damage max unless i need to get info or capture a recruit. all tradeskills and taming at max rate. fuel use normal to get ash....still not easy mode, mobs don't want to die, lots to explore and hidden things to find. and building can be fun...

i also have a character on pve official and that is just a massive grind for leveling. mobs hit stupid hard and item repair is the daily activity.

I need a new Elite lower DMG, Elite bear lvl 35 killed my lvl 50 tribemember like nothing.

thanks, i could swear i read it as i looked through all of them but ended up forgetting it was that one.

OP, your settings look similar to what I use for my single-player game. Turning off building decay and the post-re-spawn packet is undoubtedly the most helpful tweak.
Chilly Jun 13, 2024 @ 10:14am
Exp - 2x
Drops - 3x
Building decay - off
Crafting/animal taming speed - 3x
Max tribesman per skill rank - 10,20,30

The game felt way too grindy at default settings, i want a good balance of activities and not have to spend all my time managing the base and constantly mining for ores and materials, these settings allow me to do that and spend the most time doing the thing i enjoy most, exploring the map and raiding the barracks/dungeons.

I can't find animal taming speed, where is it located?

I took inspiration from you guys to make my first solo settings and thanks to the devs for letting us adjust freely so the experience never gets annoying. :)

At first, i felt there were too much sliders but at least, with this, everyone can tailor the game to their liking depending on their skills and the game of experience they want. It's great! I'll be starting with no invasion to learn the game then I'll turn them on to test and enjoy all the game haw to offer!

An underrated change, - set your day setting to a lower number, such as 12 or even 6. Days last longer and even at 0.9 daytime/nighttime setting you get a decent length night. (could also change that to 0.8)

Nighttime and/or Rain storm makes invading barracks a lot simpler, stealth around and head shot with a great bow tower guard etc Night WITH Rain makes you hard to detect as the rain hides the noise you make.

Weather impacts stealth too? Interesting! I was almost regretting my purchase cuz i bought to play with friends but they play so much more than i do that they will be done with the game before i have bone tools! But honestly, this is so impressive for an EA. They deserved my money!

Going to a high level area is the same ♥♥♥♥ as in the beginning area. There's exceptions but basic ruins has the almost the same loot table and same drop.
