the reason why they decay is that its "the next time a single one of these decay" and i find it really difficult to see any issue? im running around with fresh meat and i lose one about every 30 - 40 minutes, seems fair to me.
wish i could show it in action but everything i have is 40 minutes away from spoiling. If anything stacking them all together seems to be the BEST choice. as you only lose one per stack.
tribesmen definitely eat when hungry, depending on what flaws they have that can be quite often.
i just chucked 200 meats into the bonfire and let them eat that when they are hungry, and carry the broths around on myself.
My best guess as someone who isnt super far into the game yet is carrion eaters, like vultures who eats diseased and dead animals.
in your hunting log you can see what bait each type of animal can eat.
