Trivial for cultist to go infinite
It's too easy for cultist to go infinite with Hip Throw + Cheating. Since enemies have no mechanic to prevent this, it becomes very easy to win any fight on the first turn, even against Cthulhu.

i mean, youre literally cheating, what did you expect :> ?
Zarquon 21 NOV 2024 a las 3:16
I think you are exaggerating. At most you will get like 4 Hip throw cards and 2 Cheating cards in a deck of 20+. Whilst fun, it's no where near an infinite card draw.

i had 2 cheating cards and 3 hip throws in a 15 card deck, and it did work like that. Also, 2 cheating cards are hard to get, but when it happens it is stupid strong.

very strong yes, but in your experience it wouldn't kill cthulhu in one turn and didn't allow an infinite turn right?

Infinite turn is possible, and i have no idea if it could be done on cthulhu but i mean i dont see why it wouldnt, but i ended alot of fights with the 0 cost hip throw redrawing itself loop in 1 turn.

You can remove cards in hotel + at merchant. If you get new cards, you can choose Exhaust ones thus not diluting your deck = you stall and cast Exhaust cards until you arrive to 2 Hip Throws + Cheating in your hand, if you've not drawn these, even in a small deck (I've managed to arrive to 10 cards, 2 of which were Exhaust ones).

While I've not killed Cthulhu this way (I've already killed him in my story) I've won many fights using this strategy on turn 1.

Oh nice, didnt think it was possible to get enough removal and avoid enough battles to make the deck so small like sub 13 cards.

i recorded an example of abusing it, but its not by any means the most efficient way to build the deck

Part of the issue is that cards like Hip Throw can draw themselves. Putting cards into the discard AFTER resolving the card's effect would help mitigate (but not totally prevent) this issue.
Zarquon 22 NOV 2024 a las 3:43
honestly i'm more impressed you managed to get down to 10 cards. i usually pick card removal options, use up all my rejects and still end up with a deck of 18+. Also had plenty of runs where i never see a "cheating" and only once have i got 2.

Has anyone tried the this with the relic/equipment that give +1 energy when the deck is cycled?

Here is an infinite Professor build i stumbled on, think it's been mentioned before.

Relic: Fan (Bonsai). each time you draw, draw +1 (not necessary)
Equipment: Glovettes. each time the deck reshuffles, gain 1 energy
Cards: Bargane. 0 Cost Discard 1 Draw 2.

In the screenshot I have a deck of 13, with 12 cards in hand and only 1 in the discard pile. So every time I use Bargane (for free) i gain 1 energy. It's turn 3 and i have 71 energy, stopped there because i thought it was enough to make the point.

Maybe someone else has tried this? I need an X cost damage card still.

Edit. here is killing the Act 3 boss on the first turn. brought the deck down to 11 but it wasn't as optimal since hand size is 12 so had to use a card, draw a card each time.

*shrugs* plenty of infinite loops. If you managed to get your deck to that then well done you earned the right to smash that run....it all goes back to zero next run and the fun each run is in trying to make the best deck.

Put it on the discord, idk what exactly the dev intends, if things like this are fine, but i did get the moth card nerfed into an exhaust card when i showed him i could stack dex/str really quickly multiple times per turn, even tho it was so absurd because i had 2 of them which isnt easy to get, lol. So, maybe he will cap energy or increase cost of draw cards, or have the effect resolve before the card goes to the discard pile so it cant be redrawn.

Btw, autopsy at max upgrade has an X cost, but you need to be in mad form to use it.
