Call of Duty: United Offensive

Call of Duty: United Offensive

Game not working.
So I bought the WW2 bundle. Go to start up the United Offensive expansion, it starts, gives me a black screen and nothing. I have to press Esc, a very fast message appears, can't even read it and game closes.

So what did I spend money on? A game that doesn't work.

All drivers and everything is up-to-date.

Nope, keep validating files, says there is one to replace, says it will replace it, never does.

This game requires the Steam version of the original Call of Duty to play. Maybe you had miss that point?

Solution worked for me: I bought Call of Duty (base game) and installed it then United Offensived worked. Kind regards.

If it still isn't working (better late than never, right? :P ) have you tried running it in compatibility mode for windows XP SP3? Some have had that fix their issues. Not all, but some. It's an old game and can be a pain to make work on some systems.

Go to your game's directory (something like C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty or whatever) and make a shortcut out of CoDUOSP.exe (singleplayer) or CoDUOMP.exe (multiplayer) on your desktop. Then right click the shortcut, properties, compatibility, then select the XP service pack 3. Run the game off that shortcut and it may work.

I've tried all the usual things. I really just lost money on it and that's it. It has to be some file that isn't working properly. Nothing I can do.

I have had this when i was runing the clan in the early days of the game, if you have anytype of ms office installed it can do this issue, i will explain cod and coduo and cod2 use alot of read me files that are saved as a cfg file. ms office has this nasty habbit of changing the default viewer for these files and the game fails to work without an error. A few of my clan member had this very same issue and after removing offic and restarting the pc there game worked fine they also managed to get office back once the game had installed and been run. it is worth a try as a last shot to get the game working if not google the game fault i am sure there is millions of forums and posts about this issue on google by now.

there is also issues with newer graphics card drivers as they do not include the physics driver for older games. nvidia has put a post on there forums about it under legacy software, it is free to download and install it is now an addon, one that i had to install myself so i could run medal of honour, the install fixed the issue and some of my other older games work again now. Don't give up guys there is a fix and i am sure you will find it you could try steam support report the issue they might release a fix for it one day.

if nothing help remove the game then find your steam folder and remove the cod1/uo folder from inside of steam. then restart steam. install cod1 first run it to see if it works then install coduo if it does. some time it is the way it has install the steam server just dumps the files in a folder.
