no cockpit view in 2025?!?!?!
Is this planned to be added later?? This is ridiculous for a 2025 game in UE5....

from my understanding the game was made on a shoestring budget certain things like mp and cockpit cam were left out to save money

Import Tuner Challenge had interior camera.
Locked to the cockpit with a horrible viewing angle (pointing upwards) to avoid having to animate anything beyond the cluster.

And that's completely fine. Historically, TXR has never had in car cam to begin with. Yet people here want to act as if the ENTIRE game, is s flop, because it doesn't have one single feature? The entitlement is real...

And not forget about different steering wheels you could buy, but never see any, excluding showroom lol. Good, old Genki

Seems that Hot Pursuit 2 from 2002 was the first NFS game without a cockpit view (so much for progress).
However, all the ones before that did have it - NFS 1, 2, Hot Pursuit, High Stakes and Porsche Unleashed.
Good times.
This game has more to do with Ridge Racer Type 4 than with modern simracers and all of that. Hood cam has always been the typical implementation of that type of camera. This is an OG style type racer throwback kinda game and we just have to appreciate it. It has potential to improve and that is great.

Eh.. Hood cam's fine.

Listen, I get it. Even Import Tuner Challenge had Cockpit Camera. But if I had to choose between having TXR back w/o the Cockpit Camera or not having TXR back at all, I'm picking the former. Gotta take into account that Genki had to pay licensing fees just to have real cars in the game, and that probably ate a big chunk of their tight budget. This is pretty much an Indie game, and that's where you gotta set your standards.

Disappointed aswell, but we can do nothing sadly

Real men use bumper view. Seriously though, what's with all this "Unreal 5" "in 2005" whining? Clearly you don't know what the TXR series is. This isn't Need for Speed or some such crap.

Don't insult TXR with "indie" term, cuz this is not a trash. Its just a nice, old school game, created by very old japanese studio with very low budget, that currently sit in early access, but will get out of that state someday.

its pathetic theres no in car view. and also no multiplayer. how could they even go forward without either of those things.

AND BUDGET IS MEANINGLESS WHEN THEY CAN SELL IN CAR MIRROR HANGING ITEMS LIKE FUZZY DICE AND OTHER HANGING OBJECTS AND INTERIOR THINGS ON STEAM. FOR MONEY. AND TURN A PROFIT.

THERES NO EXCUSE!!!

It's called early access. Nobody forced you to buy it.

I don't think you understand how game development or software development works in general. Currently Genki is a small team with a very tight budget and development resources which they have to split up evenly for developing the core features of the game, they cannot afford to diverge the resources from the main core gameplay to extra features like cockpit view. The amount of resources it takes to fully model, texture a cockpit view, add animations for all 48 cars is completely out of scope for a early access game version where they haven't even completely flesh out the story mode yet. This feature is not necessary for this type of game where its mostly played in 3rd person arcade style. Take Night Runners for example, it has cockpit view for the cars but as a result the development time for each car is exponentially longer, the current early access version of that game only has 1 playable car (released public version not patreon or modded). And even then the car list in that game is going to be substantially smaller than TXR. Maybe in the future where the game is fully fleshed out its main core features then they could start thinking of adding cockpit view but for an early access version it is ridiculous to ask of them to add these unnecessary features. Even titles released by big company like some of the later Need For Speed doesn't have interior camera because it is simply not needed for this style of arcade racing genre.

Would you guys hound me if I said that even the newest NFS games don’t have cockpit cameras?
