Legacy 2 (03.03.2016) has been removed.
Does the developer want to force us to play the current version or why else is he doing that ♥♥♥♥?

Now I have to go offline every time so I can stay with Legacy 2.

Because is a moro_n?
You better copy the ST game folder somewhere, so that you can copy past that old content over the current build if wanted.
I think Steam verifies the files only when a new update is released. In theory you should be able to play online like this. But I'm not sure.

Thanks for the tip.

I will copy the folder, so I have a backup of the game.
However, I will continue to go offline before I start Spintires, because I don't want to risk losing the Legacy 2 build.

Interesting. There is a big difference between legacy and current version?
I have legacy build 2015-01-22

Previously there was Legacy 1 (2015-01-22) and Legacy 2 (2016-03-03), but Legacy 2 has now been removed. The differences between Legacy 2 and the current version are the graphics and the vehicle physics.

Last question: Legacy 2 was better? I think yes :/
For me personally, Legacy 2 is better, probably because I spent most of the time in this version.

I hope they bring it back

Didn’t the DLC not work with the legacy builds, if I remember?
marv Jan 6, 2021 @ 1:26pm
I just tried to copy past the media.zip meshcache.zip and texturecache.zip of the legacy 2 build in the current build folder. The game works, but the vehicles don't work properly: some don't show the diff lock option, some other the all wheel option, all of them don't show the gear used and the fuel indicator ain't working right.
So, if someone has the legacy 2 installed and doesn't want the new build, he better keeps the game as it is and never update. Or just search the torrent version of the legacy build and use that. S c r e w the steam version.
The best mods and maps can be find online in the website stmods.ru
So there's no need for the workshop.

Thanks for the update marv, sad times.

Looking for the pirate version, the build 1.4.0 is good, because it still has the old physics. The new one has been introduced with the build 1.6.2.

1.4.0 Should also run Chernobyl I think. There's a disc copy of the Chernobyl DLC and base game available on Amazon, but surely this would require Steam to use, meaning it would be auto-updated?

Yes, if you look around you can find the 1.40 torrent with 3 dlc (Canyon, Aftermath and Chernobyl). The new physics has been introduced with the Sherp dlc.
Every time you launch a game on Steam, it verifies its files when the developer releases an update. So there is always the risk that it updates the build.

Personally, I won't feel bad if I decide to use a pirate copy, because I own the original.

Just a note: the 1.4.0 version that one can find online has more grip than the legacy 2 build.
To fix this, go in the game folder, double click on the media.zip file, open the media.xml file with the notepad or notepad++, find the lines
<Mud>
<Substance
FullPushDepth="1.2"
LinResistance="10.0"
PushResistance="36.0"
SubstanceFriction="2.8"

and change the last one with
SubstanceFriction="2.2"

legacy2 timeupdated: 1567268265 (31 August 2019 – 16:17:45 UTC)

You can probably just use https://github.com/SteamRE/DepotDownloader to acquire it. No need to start pirating.
