Slitterhead
Adult theme censorship in the English tweet. RESOLVED: [It seems that the censorship was only on the tweet, the game so far looks authentic]
RESOLVED:
I've looked into the game and it seems that the sexual themes and dialogues are preserved. It's only the English translation for the aforementioned tweet that, for some stupid reason, was censored.
I'm prefacing my old post with this paragraph because some people are getting the wrong idea and that's unjust to the developers.

Enjoy the game!

My original post for reference:

I'm a fan of the director himself, so I've been following his company twitter account to get more info about the game as time goes on, but the recent tweets had me worried.

The Japanese mentions clearly 売春組織 which clearly refers to an organized prostitution ring, involving illegal activities and sex. And the Japanese text mentions Michelle's prostitutes too.
But not the English translation. The translator felt the need to censor any reference to prostitution. And replaces the prostitution ring with a "massage parlor", are you kidding me? and censored the word prostitutes by calling them women. Does that mean that all women are prostitutes?

Why? It's an adult M game. Why anyone would censor these everyday words? Is it to market to kids, in which case that's illegal since it's an M rated game. Or worse, this could be the real translation in-game, which would be a case of horrendous self-censorship. The thing that kills any motivation for me to play this game. Because I, and most of us I assume, are not here for gameplay. We're here for an interesting and mature story and setting from the creator of silent hill.

If you find this concerning please contact the devs.

There was a sex scene with the first slitterhead prostitute that featured nudity. There didn't seem to be any censorship. It's the lurking parasite mission I believe. Also some of the lines about the prostitutes have been absolutely hilarious

There is NO censorship. You actually play as a prostitute rarity. You can watch the walkthrough on here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCNmHCDU8jc

Also, look at the rating description: The developers describe the content like this:

This game includes sexual acts, nudity, violence, murder, suicide, depictions of blood, criminal activity, and the consumption of alcohol and cigarettes.

People overreacting as usual
Multiple threads from misreading a single tweet, why are people this paranoid.

No it isn't, it shows a person who loves to talk ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I think you should learn to read before talking nonsense. And yes it's irrelevant. Stop trying to derail the topic.

What part? the one where you cry hard pass right away? and then pretend you have too much to play all off a sudden? And yes its still relevent if you buy garbage like Dragon Age The Veilguard. It shows you're just talking ♥♥♥♥ aobut worrying its censored.

You find it irrelevent because you're being called on the fact you'll buy garbage but will pretend you have standards when a line is changed. Not to mention if i look at your games list you're little worried aobut lines being altered, seeing as a lot of the games you own have censored or altered dialogue.

Maybe because localizers/translators of Japanese games have been boasting about censoring or altering dialogue when the content triggers them,

https://varishangout.com/index.php?threads/poor-localization-compilation-thread.31/

Some Japanese games have been so badly translated that it spews either marxist garbage or even memes with modern day politics. Like gender neutral langauge where there is none or altering complete characters.

Entire Japanese Light novels had walls of dialogue censored because it triggered the Localizer/Translator.

Ahh yes thats true, people playing that degenrate crap dragon age, automatically everything they say is invalid. Theres no excuse.

To the point about paranoia, its a matter of trust. Its in such a bad state, I still wont trust this unless i see the actual release version version validated, or morons like IGN and alike going mad.

If you're willing to buy that garbage you can not claim you suddenly have standards when scream "hard pass". Not to mention the person has an army of badly translated or altered games. It kinda makes it pointless to scream that even as a statement.

Simply sums up as: Sees a game that might have words censored, then screams hard pass as if hes worried about it wihile owning an army of dialogue altered or censored games. Sure makes screaming that pretty hollow.

I believe that you should vote with your wallet and not make hollow statement while still supporting games that censors or alters for the sake of political correctness.

I personally stopped buying anime games to prevent supporting the people that want to butcher them.

Still derailing the topic with nothing relevant. You say I'm just talking ♥♥♥♥. You literally clicked on my profile and found the first thing that triggered you. I'm playing veilguard and? I'm not a parrot that just goes around following a mob. I like to try games out. This game is fun to play and that's all I care about right now. I have no opinion on the story.

The games I have that are altered have translations out there genius. Reverie, Daybreak, and hundred heroes. Last one i haven't started because until the fan translation is done.

Me not wanting to buy your game def triggered you. I have no idea why. I knew what I was getting with this game. Theres a huge difference. I don't know what localization affects a game until people that know Japanese show it online.

Parrot away all you want like the other guy.
Thanks for the initial heads-up and resolution update, OP.

Entire Japanese Light novels had walls of dialogue censored because it triggered the Localizer/Translator.

This was a big one. I think it was... the publisher Seven Seas that had so many series "localized" to such an extreme that they ended up doing a ton of reprints after having someone else go through and fix it.

I believe one of those series was also the one where the author found out her works had been changed so much due to fans contacting her about it and she was fairly upset.

This obviously isn't limited to Seven Seas light novels, it's been happening in manga and anime and games for years. But it was an interesting example where the backlash was so severe that they actually went back and fixed it.
Those incompetent narcissists can't be replaced by machines soon enough. Any translator who can't translate should have their butt kicked out of the building. There's no such thing as "localization". It's a corporate (politically correct) euphemism for censorship. We've all been reading literature translated from other languages for centuries. Never in History as this matter of translating been a matter of changing what an author wrote. Let no one be gasligthed by their BS.

The word localization is very disturbing and Orwellian. You know what's more ironic? Those same people are advocating day and night for the idea of inclusion, tolerance and cultural appropriation. But it's okay when it's them who are making these changes. Nothing is logical with them, it's only the thirst for power and control that fuels them.
I would like to thank You og post for clarifying this. Seems like i might get this day 1 ;) :ojigi: Very good news thanks

You don't think it's relevant because it's calls out your hypocrisy. People like you always do that when they called out on it. No i just was curious if you were one of those double stnadard liar that claims it won't buy if censored, and it turned out you are. The fact you own Dragon age the Veilguard indicated you have no actual standards when it comes to buying games for quality.

Even you're excuse for the censored/altered games of : "i have only buy retranslated games" is the dumbest excuse ever, seeing as you're the problem in gneeral with people like you making sure that the initial butcherer of the main translation keeps getting paid to keep butchering the next game. You're so selfish in that sense that you feel that some unknown person on the internet has to redo all that for free becauser the original translator couldn't bebothered to do his job right.

Me calling you out on their main BS comment isn't being triggered, it's just sohowing what kinda two faced liar you are with your first comment.

Luckely a lot of publishers are looking towards machine translation.
https://boundingintocomics.com/?s=machine+translation

The only problem is that there will still be a couple of those woke localizers/translators pushing either stupid memes or butcher some translations. A.I seems to have a problem with certain forms of Japanese humor or sarcasm if i recall.

It will however makes sure that the jobs for it will become more rare and the worse can be replaced more easily. Seeing as it has been shown that company's will even hire people that only know basic Japanese. One was even caught using DeepL while boasting. Most also only can read Japanese but can't even speak it.
So far I don't see anything that would suggest censorship

I am not far in, but prostitutes have already been mentioned multiple times, you go to a brothel for an investigation, they've mentioned the red light district, and there's at least one sex scene with nudity in it.
