Create a Discord or something and keep a thread alive here, pretty sure some people will join little by little

You can join the official Discord and try there. It's pretty quiet there most of the time these days, but we do have occasional talks about the game. I'm sure that if someone were to proactively plan an event on there you could probably get a match going. If you're lucky one of the oldheads will host since they usually have a ton of good custom maps.
