"Clavicus Vile demands a more powerful champion"....
This is at his shrine, I wanted to start the quest because I'm level 17 and I remember it being fun (I may be thinking of another shrine quest with a village, but anyways). I certainly have more than 500 gold to donate as an offering to Clavicus, but I'm still told when interacting with the shrine, "Clavicus Vile demands a more powerful champion to begin this quest.". Does anyone know why this is or how I can fix it? I should be a high enough level to start this, and I definitely have the funds.

For anyone assuming that for some reason I wouldn't just look it up, I did:
https://oblivionremastered.wiki.fextralife.com/Clavicus+Vile

Led me to this wiki which said I needed to be at least level 10 to start the quest.

Yeah so forums are spaces for discussions, or questions about the game. Doy, looking it up is way faster. If I'd gotten the correct info, then I wouldn't have to deal with people who are on forums too much being stuck up about sharing info or advice that seems pretty trivial to find, but really, not everyone knows which wiki is "the right wiki" or that there even is a "right wiki" to look at.

You guys suck. Sorry, you just do.

This is where I found the incorrect information in the first place, and is the reason I had to come on here to ask, because it doesn't sound right. The section labeled "How to unlock Clavicus Vile's Quest" for this wiki about Oblivion Remastered specifically states, "You must be at least level 10 to start this quest."

I shouldn't have to defend that I'm not lazy, but whatever.

Fextralife is not good for answers in my opinion. UESP says you need to be level 20 to do this quest. UESP is the best source of information on this game.

OP's question is the exact reason why the forums exist. Don't shame him for asking a question.

I kinda have to agree with "space" on this one. It's something easily looked up. However, yeah, it's good forums exist to provide some help.

When looked up, the source I found said the quest required level 10. That's why I came to the forums. This information wasn't consistent, so that's why I needed to ask.

It's not like I didn't google it and find the quest on the wiki. It said level 10 when I looked at it, don't reply to people if you're just gonna be rude about it, no one wants to hear it and it probably makes people afraid to ask questions because they'll be afraid someone will huff and puff just because they might have missed where online they could have found the info

There's very little about this game that I don't know. I played the original for 1000s of hours so I don't mind sharing some tips and stuff with new players.

But at some point people need to figure things out on their own. There's tons of resources available to look up anything that you want to know about the game. There's the wiki page, and literally 100s of different walk through sites. Asking a question on the forums that you could have looked up yourself in 2.2 seconds is really just being lazy. You can't expect someone else to be your personal Google.

For the record, I did look it up before posting. The wiki I found said the required level was 10, which I had already surpassed, so I was confused when the quest wouldn’t start. That’s why I came to the forum- to get clarification from people who might know more. I wasn’t trying to "use anyone as my personal Google," I was just trying to figure out why I was getting wrong info from the wiki.

I get that this kind of question might be obvious to some of you, especially if you've played thousands of hours and know where to find accurate info, but not everyone is coming from the same place or using the same resources. Dismissing people or calling them lazy when they’re actively trying to solve a problem doesn’t make people want to ask questions, and makes the forum hostile and gatekeepy. Maybe in the future people can be a little more patient and a little less eager to assume the worst.

Thank you, this is all I needed to hear, I didn't know that the fextralife wasn't reliable until now. I really appreciate you letting me know. I'll use UESP from now on :)

You are very welcome. Hope you like the quest.

My response may have come off as hostile, but it wasn't solely meant for you. It's more of a blanket statement to everyone who can't be bothered to look up information on their own. It's great that you at least tried to look for the answer before coming to the forums!!

My real gripe is with the people who play the game for 2 minutes and then want to ask how do you do this? How do you do that? Where's this location at? Or the people who are so quick to call everything bugged or broken, when it really isn't.
