Worked perfectly at launch. Now crashes
I played this game for several days after launch with absolutely no problems running, then took a break to play other stuff like DOOM and whatnot. Now that I'm back, the game crashes maybe 60 seconds into loading my save or starting a new character. I can not get past the first zombie now because my game will just crash to desktop. No idea what to do but I guess I can't play anymore lol

Go into the Documents-My Games and find the Oblivion Remastered folder and either delete it or move it to your desktop if it has saves you wanna keep. Now start the game and let it recompile the shaders. This fixes most issues people have.

If you have a save you wanna keep move the Oblivion Remastered folder back into My Games.

If what fluffy suggested doesn't fix it it could be any number of bugs

Keeps track of the new ones.
As does the bethesda support page

Sadly the remaster also has a number of ones the old one had including a memory leak.

Hopefully patches come soon.

Welp after almost 60 hrs of relatively crash free gameplay I have now joined the Crash Club. Can't play for more than like a minute without crashing. Sad, guess I'll just have to wait for the patch to finally arrive.

Either a windows patch or a driver update is your problem as nothing has changed with this game since launch.

Just delete the game.

Then, reinstall it and enjoy another 60+ hours of crash free game play after the (new) launch.

Savegames that become bloated and corrupted, loading more bugs into your game and making it unstable or unplayable.

This is a known bug for 20 years. The only solution is some mod that cleans up the game saves. Or start a new game. A patch that hasn't fixed a known bug for 20 years isn't coming now.

check out that reddit post.

it kinda explains why our games are fine at start, but gets unstable later on.
I suggest getting the following mods from nexus:
"Oblivion BSA Uncompressor" and "Ultimate Engine Tweaks (Anti-Stutters - More Performance - Lower Latency - Better Clarity - Lossless)"

AFTER MOD INSTALLATION

Access:
%USER%Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\SaveGames once there you will see a file entitled Save_Settings.sav

Back-up the file and then delete it. Next launch the game, deleting Save_Settings.sav will force the game to recompile the shaders.

ONCE THE SHADERS ARE COMPLETE

Close the game and copy/paste the back-up Save_Settings.sav into the directory you deleted it from "This will reapply all of your custom in-game settings".

Congratulations you are done!

This method has helped thousands of modders including myself.

is it necessary to delete the shaders from the nvidia folder as well? ive seen some conflicting posts about this
Nope you just have to delete the Save_Settings.sav, unless you have specifically altered the GPU drivers for forced frame gen.

Then you will need to delete your DXcache.
