Thankfully there are mods on the nexus that work around the issue by disabling the paralysis effect or replace it with something else, like a stagger chance.

I haven't encountered this issue myself, but it seems to be a fairly common problem.
Turn it off.
Lumen can only be set to low in an un-modded game. Can't be turned off completely.
There is hardware and software lumen in the game.
The hardware lumen can be turned off and it is what is causing like 95% of my (100+) crashes.
