in my opinion, i see that steam community in-game is a dxwrapper and i prefer to have it off (its been off for the past 15yrs i cant take steam screenshots thats the only downside. But the upside is that my games all magically work great while everyone else cries about stutters and crashing.. coincidence?)
i play with fog off, r.fog 0. Its better. This game has fog on indoors for some reason. you gotta try it (dont try it if you care about achievements)
for fun, you can also turn water off r.water.enabled 0 to see stuff underwater (swimming still works its just a visibility thing)
and the fog underwater stays enabled
in a way, what im talking about isnt fog, but more of a smog, try turning it off, its the only way to see the game properly. Otherwise theres really no point in talking about lighting or raytracing or anything for that matter. Theres a heavy localized and also indoor completely cancelled out all this games rendering accouterments
Fond memory as a kid in appalachia watching the fog come off the creeks in the mornings.
