**HAIR FIX KINDA**
Effects quality = medium = HAIR!! HAIR!! I HAVE HAIR AGAIN!!!!!

when i have it on high, i have like 11 total pixels of hair. and it looks awful. but on medium it looks like regular brown hair like older games (still a bit dithered/choppy on the edges but 1000x better regardless)

I assume that would depend on specs and maybe other settings too? I have hair on ultra and plenty of it, no issues. Not even tried changing the hair setting, though I will now just to see if it does anything!
i have screenshots showing the extreme difference between medium and high but i always get scolded for posting imgur links

in my opinion, i see that steam community in-game is a dxwrapper and i prefer to have it off (its been off for the past 15yrs i cant take steam screenshots thats the only downside. But the upside is that my games all magically work great while everyone else cries about stutters and crashing.. coincidence?)

I have that turned off in this game too, in case it caused any issues. Would be interesting to see screens, but as I say I will be testing this myself when I can, most settings I just left on Ultra and never bothered changing (cos Ultra looks best, logically).
i dont see any difference in high/ultra just worse performance from high to ultra

i play with fog off, r.fog 0. Its better. This game has fog on indoors for some reason. you gotta try it (dont try it if you care about achievements)

for fun, you can also turn water off r.water.enabled 0 to see stuff underwater (swimming still works its just a visibility thing)

I tried a mod that got rid of fog, but I actually prefer the game with it in. Otherwise the view distance is pretty crazy (compared to OG when you couldn't see squat, like you had serious myopia!) As for disabling water, that was an entertaining bug I had in Oldblivion, where all water would just vanish. No desire to go back to that!
in oblivion remastered, when you use r.fog 0 the fog in the mountains stays on (the important fog, so the game doesnt look ridiculous with fog off)

and the fog underwater stays enabled

in a way, what im talking about isnt fog, but more of a smog, try turning it off, its the only way to see the game properly. Otherwise theres really no point in talking about lighting or raytracing or anything for that matter. Theres a heavy localized and also indoor completely cancelled out all this games rendering accouterments

Hmm, I might try that. I like the cloudy water though, that can stay. Water was too clear in OG - I think? Or maybe it just wasn't there, lol.
once you turn it off once you will never turn it on ever again. Guaranteed.

The problem isnt the fog, the problem is its on 24/7 basically. In real life it would only happen when the dew point was hit and at certain times of the day. I dont think I know of any game that does it like that though.

Fond memory as a kid in appalachia watching the fog come off the creeks in the mornings.
