The menus are horrible! What the heck?
I went back to the original last night for the sake of comparison, and while the interface was definitely meant more for consoles, I was immediately surprised by just how much better it was in the original. Inventory sorted into subsections!? One-click local/world maps!? Far more responsive!? Even alchemy felt easier!

It boggles my mind how they got so many things right but somehow made the menus far worse than they were in the original.

Try playing both and comparing. They weren't great but were far more functional.
OG Oblivion with Darwinified UI was pretty goat

This one baffles me on some of the decisions; why the hell would I want the world map while I am ripping through a dungeon? Or soul gem values being extra navigation now.

It's snazzy sure, but it's also clunkier in certain spots.

Dunno what you talking about, they pretty good for a 2006 game revamped in 2025.
I feel the OG had better ones to be honest.

I've to agree that in the OG, the inventory appeared to be easier and not so packed with details.

But actually we've shortcuts for the new menu details.
1.) Hover over an item in your inventory.
2.) Press "H" for details.
3.) Press "C" to cycle through available detail tabs.

Also showcasing the item model and being able to freely spin it around is quite neat.

But it's a bit annoying that a chosen detail tab for a specific item is resetting, when a new item is selected that does NOT have any more detail tabs than the previous item.

Every item has at least one detail tab. The eye tab to show the model.
Magic arrows have 2. The eye tab and the effect tab.
Enchanted weapons have 3. The eye tab, the effect tab (also shows charge) and the skill tab.

Hovering from regular arrows (only eye tab) to magic ones will stick to the eye tab.
Switching from a magic arrow into the effect tab, will show which magic effect it has.
Hovering back to the regular arrow will reset to the eye tab.
Now hovering back to the magic arrow will not show the effects, but also the eye tab as for the regular arrow before.

It would be quite nice, if the detail tabs can be locked for specific categories.
Like when going to an enchanted weapon, switching to the skill tab should lock this choice for all other items that have such a tab too.
Instead of reseting to the eye tab, if such a tab is not available.

Additionally there should be another hotkey available, which will reset the detail tabs to the eye tab as it currently does automatically, when the previously chosen detail tab is not available. :wellok:

DARNified.

And yes, it was excellent. I expect someone will port it soon, as it was considered essential to most people who modded OG Oblivion.

I really hope so. The UI and difficulty decorating player houses are my only complaints with the game so far. I'm absolutely loving it otherwise!
Hmm..... Well it is how I remember menu being like this. It weird to play it on key board/mouse instead of playing it on ps3 controller.

I notice few small change into this.
Oh my god yes. Its terrible. Why are the magic tabs self, target, touch and all. It should be the schools of magic. And on magic why can't I delete custom spells! or at least edit them So i don't have 100 low level spells i'm never gonna use again. Why are potions mixed in with alchemy ingredients? Ok yes they're both related to alchemy, but at least let me sort them separately! and the keys!!!! My god the keys. I don't even need to see them. Put them seperatly in a tiny tab in the corner! Why isn't there a tab JUST for notes? Why do I have to scroll through a 100 items to find the note I just picked up. And the biggest one, Why can't I favourite more than 8 things in a game with thousands of items!!! *sigh* anyways doesn't matter cause my game decided to brick itself after 120 hours and I don't feel like starting a new game. Thanks Bethesda.
