There were no invisible borders but you jumped into the abyss.
Like into a no NPC land without anything or even to option to enter dungeons.
So using invisible wall to prevent that was just logical.
As long as no "Open Cities"-equivalent for the remaster appears (which would be a performance-horror even more than the game already is), there is no use in jumping over citiy walls.
So I get, why there are these when they weren't there in the OG.
The only thing I really dislike are the invisible world borders.
There was a simple INI-setting to disable that, yet nobody has yet figured out how to change it in the remaster. :(

I'd like to be in the playable area, but without any invisible borders that even tell me I cannot go that way.
Sorry, I'll try to clarify. I meant outside the city, not outside the edges of Cyrodiil's map.
I did this by jumping on the turret and then trying to move to the ledge. I also tried to jump out of the city, but I was blocked by another invisible wall. I have footage of it, but I'm not sure where I can post videos anonymously, and I don't want to link my personal youtube channel or cloud accounts.
