Have you ever shut all the Oblivion Gates on one playthrough?
I've shut about 30 of them so far. I would say it's worth it for the Sigil Stones (to use on weapons and armor) and the stuff you can sell to merchants.

I did my first gate yesterday, besides the Kvatch one. It was pretty cool.

Except for there was one area off to the side. It was like a little island that was connected to the main land with these little bridges. I went all the way around to the little island, but all there was there was a flesh pod with 23 gold in it lol.
Yeah, I always enjoyed thinking I was "The Hero of Cydriil" when I go into the portal for Shivering Isles in Dragon armor after closing all possible gates. xD

Not even half way through I was just speed running each gate though.
Yes. I just learned to run through 'em. Exploring is no fun
I got to 47 before I finished the main quest, though after about 15 I would just run through them all to get the loot and sigil stones, they just get repetitive for me after doing the same 5 or so on repeat. But I have gotten some of the best gear in the game from loot inside the gates, currently rolling a mage build with 91% reflect damage thanks to some of the stuff I've gotten. Been a blast
After you see the few varieties of them, they start getting boring. For me anyway. That's when stealth cheese becomes the tactic DuJour, but even then, I rarely make it past doing ten or fifteen of them total.
every time I replay I say yes I'll close them all
then I end up doing the main quest after 10 or so gates because I'm maxed out on armor, swimming in gold, and will never use those sigil stones anyway

Did that a long time ago in classic Oblivion. It really was not much fun after having seen all different worlds behind the gates. So I switched to 100% chameleon and just ran as fast as possible trough most of them without having to deal with the enemies.

There are 99 possible locations for Oblivion Gates to open and in a single playthrough a max of 60 gates will spawn (including the ones from the mainquest).

Nowadays I close only the gates need for the Allies for Bruma quest and the ones needed for the mainquest.

Dude you're missing out on loads of goodies. Get some really nice rings, weapons etc in some of those minor towers.

Yes max of 60 can spawn randomly around cyrodil

Yeah but not in this playthrough. There is about 60 not sure if that changed. You get nothing so it is just a waste of time. Collecting dragon shout in Skyrim is far more fun.

They keep respawning. Oblivion gates have somthing like 300 spawn locations and when you close one another respawns somewhere in the world.

There are just 100 locations, but only up to 60 gates spawn in one playthrough. :wellok:
20 gates have affixed locations, so you'll get a total of 80 gates.

I usually get bored of doing them before the main quest part where you need to close one for each city is finished. The rewards are good sure but eh.....

I think i did it once 20 years ago. I played it many times and just like those portals in the landscape i guess.

57-60 achievements looks done. Main quest achievement is among that.
