Thief guild quest bug (Boots of Springheel Jak)

Hi there, I’ve run into a bit of a situation.

When I started the Thieves Guild questline in Oblivion, I went around stealing from a lot of mansions nearby. At some point, I ended up getting the Boots of Springheel Jak really early in the game—without realizing what they were, since it’s my first time playing.

Because of that, I encountered several bugs during the Thieves Guild quests. Every time I needed to speak to the Gray Fox, I was forced to travel to Cheydinhal, which was annoying but still manageable.

Now, though, I’ve hit a wall. I’ve reached the part of the questline where I’m supposed to retrieve the boots—but nothing is working anymore. The quest asking me to collect more gold is stuck at 700 gold and won’t update, and the Gray Fox is nowhere to be found.

I’ve already tried talking to Amusei (who is supposed to help advance the quest), but that didn’t work either. I also tried a few console commands I found online, but no luck.

It kind of feels like the questline is broken for good at this point—but if anyone has experienced something similar or knows a fix, I’d really appreciate the help!

exactly where you are on PS5. Amusei never shows up to give me the quest.

Yup, that questline is broken. The only solution is reloading earlier save.
Btw, I don't advise solving any quest related problems with console commands. It seems that in this game's version console are breaking quests more than fixing them. It is better to save often and in different slots, so you can always reload if some problems arise.
