Unidentified stolen items?
All of a sudden, I can't go anywhere near a guard without them telling me I have stolen goods. I keep re-loading saves to get rid of these items, as I really prefer not to have this happen. I found 3 items with the hand icon in my inventory and dropped them. (One was Dar-Ma's Diary, from the HackDirt quest. The other 2 items, I think I picked up with the diary.) Having gotten rid of all such items, I am puzzled that guards still want to arrest me. Does anyone know how I can clear this condition, short of going the thief route?

Having the stolen items on you isn't what is causing them to arrest you, it's having a bounty. You must have been seen taking one or more of those items and therefore incurred a bounty, you'll just have to pay it off or serve jail time, or have the thieves guild remove it if you're a member. Removing the stolen goods won't affect anything.
Stop right there criminal scum!

OK, thanks for explaining. I can reconstruct that the "stolen" quill and parchment must have come from when I tried to rescue the Count in Kvatch. Plus the "stolen" diary from when I rescued Darma from Hackdirt. SMH.
