I prefer classic mechanics much more and feels true "freedom". Just try it. I think you'll like it.
Exceptions are:
1) fighters guild (companions guild in skyrim definitely better)
2) star progression system in skyrim is better than oblivion passive progression
3) autoleveling in oblivion is much worse, you need to fix it with mods
4) dungeons and forts are more monotonous in oblivion, bcs they were made by one person in original game.
5) landscape in oblivion is more monotonous too probably because of lack of developers in 2006
Also remember that oblivion remastered is a new game and have some artifacts that will be fixed by modders or developers
Skills level too fast causing you to level too fast while your weapon skill is still low
Adept difficulty is way too easy and expert is far too difficult. Get a mod.
I suggest getting a mod for chest loot so it isn't boring. Loot is poor and depressing at first but by lvl 20 you will be rolling in gd money of the loot off of dead npcs.
Adding to what has been said here, Oblivion actually takes place a few hundred years in the past, when it was believed that all dragons had been exterminated until the arrival of Skyrim and the Greybeards.
As a curiosity, I'll say that from a certain point in the north of Oblivion you can see Skyrim and the Greybeards' mount and temple. With the Northern Lights in the background, it looks spectacular.
