Difficulty levels not scaled well
game started getting easy at lvl 20 on adept so set it to expert. Unfortunately expert requires 7-10 times more to kill enemies, and they do 3-5 times more damage. Quite a big increase from just one difficulty level, I just need the game twice as hard, not 10 times lol

The difficulty levels are broken. You can use a mod on Nexus until they fix it.

Not broken, they definitely intended it to be like that. As to why they removed the slider allowing you to fine tune it more to your desired preference, who knows. I use mods for the difficulty as well, but vanilla is very doable, just have to take advantage of certain game mechanics. Not for me, but I understand the discourse
Vanilla scaling is something like x3 damage taken, x.30 damage dealt on expert. Master around 6x damage taken, ×.16 dealt. Definitely a huge spike from flat x1 x1 at adept
Isn't that what you wanted, though? Tougher enemies? You don't get rewards based on the difficulty setting, and let's face it, Oblivion defined "Crap Loot".

Expert and Master require use of magic for the most part. Not just magic, but weakness to magic, or conjuration, or a combination. Started on expert intending to be a mage, haven't had any problems. Pure nonmagic physical builds I can't imagine being viable on expert unless a person is a masochist and wants to sit there beating on an enemy for minutes at a time. Even then, it's not going to work without enchanted armor and alchemy potions.

I would agree the difficulty options are not optimal, but this game seems like it was designed with the idea people are going to do a lot of googling to figure things out.

The difficulty slider has never, not once, been done well by Bethesda.

that is why oblivion vets from the original will tell you not to level up your character ever. your skill will keep increasing as you play as normal. Just do not sleep cause the enemies scale with level and if you power level by boosting a useless skill then you make things that much harder on yourself.
