Min-Maxxing still a requirement?
I tried getting into old oblivion a long time ago but the meticulous grinding requirements made me hate leveling up but I also didn’t want to be locked into lower gear levels for the entire game. Is this still a thing in the remaster? I know the level scaling is still implemented but will I still have to stress over every single experience gain and force myself into swimming or bunny hopping across the map just to level up and play normally?

No, that was one of the things changed for this remaster. Leveling system is good now.

You don't have to worry about that any more. They have made it so both Major and Minor skills contribute to your level. You only have to consider picking a combat skill as a Major skill so you don't lack in damage as you progress into the later levels. The default classes are remade so they are actually good though.

Thanks so much! I was going to get it anyways but now knowing I can just powerlevel (within reason) like I did in Morrowind makes the wait all just that harder.
Every single skill regardless of if they're major or minor counts toward your level. Additionally the higher the skill level the more xp toward the next level up each skill up gives, and each level up requires more xp (naturally).

You want to be even more mindful in this version though not to "waste" xp (unlike the original you can bank multiple level ups meaning if you sell too much stuff your mercantile will go way up and you will gain a bunch of "junk" levels).

TL;DR you now are expected to focus on your spec rather than grind out levels but you still want to watch out for overleveling.

All leveling up does now is affect the lists and give you a some attribute points. You can play exactly how you want without worrying about which attributes will be modified by your skill increases.

Not leveling while you build your skills and then leveling up later to increase the danger of the world is the way to go.

So just to clarify, they’d be junk levels purely because you didn’t properly level your combat skills and now you have a bunch of levels where your damage output is lower than it should be because you could only reasonably dump those points into speechcraft?

Exactly. And if you're a mage this isn't really a problem, 50 or so Destruction and you don't have to worry for the rest of the game.

It never was.
It never was needed. If you leveled too fast you simply hold off on leveling for a bit til your gear and skills catch up
Another thing that helps is there's already a mod available that will scale major quest reward/unique items that you have already obtained to your level as you level up, so you can just finish that quest at any time and grab the item now, and it will still be viable as if you waited to grab it. It's also retroactive, so if you have reached midgame and already have the items, it'll scale them up automatically once installed.

You two never played the old oblivion then or have no clue what we’re all talking about. But regardless, your bait is flawed and lacks perfection.
Discovered something luck cant be maxed unless you increase it early

Played it since release. You absolutely don't need to min max. If you're talking about efficient leveling, then you don't understand the mechanics of the game and fell for bad advice given by people to appease their OCD, not to actually manage the level scaling of oblivion.

The attributes themselves are almost worthless and not the reason you'll be weak or strong.

What was bad was the world level scaling, which can cause you problems if you leveled a bunch of non combat skills and got the next tier of enemies without being better at combat, or don't have the next tier of gear to combat the new enemy tiers, or a combination of both.

Both of those problems are solved by waiting to level up at certain tiers until your gear or combat skills catch up.

Look I ain’t reading all of that nerd. I came here to ask a question and it was answered properly by good people. If you wanna keyboard warrior and still be wrong that’s cool. It just gives off weenie aura.
