Personally I didn't want to use mods on my first character so I just made a rule for myself not to sell any equipped gear from enemies. Loot from chests etc is OK to sell. It helps balance it a bit.
I do that, and it would be all nice and good were it not for morrowind which is arguably older and more jankier than oblivion not having nearly as bad problem with this, especially when it comes to end game tier equipment. The whole level scaling in oblivion just ruins any kind of economy after lvl 20 and I don't think its excuseable nowadays.
They should have at least tried to adjust it instead of copy pasting something that was broken and unfun even 20 years ago.
Wanna know something fun to do? Self lock at level 16. I've played a whole playthough in oblivion locked at level 16, by not leveling up. It was actually a lot of fun. Made daedric artifacts actually fun to use, Kept the game interesting from start to finish. Enchanted rings and amulets were not OP AF. I was never a God-Tier, Mega Chad. lol...
That actually made the game very fun. Just make sure to do 1 murder before you get to level 16, so you're not locking yourself out of the Dark Brotherhood Guild.
Why specifically 16lvl?
But should probably try 20 or lower with the next character.
Because at 16, you're still seeing Steel Armor, Elven, Orcish, Dwarven, Glass, and rarely Ebony. And super rare (as it should be) Daedric Armor.
No Prob. I would Recommend running as a Breton with the Lord Sign. Very powerful character. Without even an enchanted item or armor, you leave the sewers 65% resistant to magic, and 15% resistant to Physical Damage. Freeing up room to equip something else, other then 2-4 Equipment Slots being hog tied to Magic resistance that only equates to maybe 40% resistance, if your lucky. Or, you can become totally immune to magic all together with just 2 solid items.
The Breton/Lord Sign is unarguably the most powerful. Because all the other races, just have dumb once per day powers, that you can unlock later on anyways, as a spell. And The Bretons Once Per Day spell, is actually quit powerful. a 50% shield... With the Lord Sign thats 65% Shield, in a tight window. They also have a +50 to Magica and learn Restoration and Alteration spells at a crazy rate.
Bretons with Lord Sign are god-tier.
I disagree. All it does is turn Oblivion into Skyrim...
Yay for being level 50 and still fighting piss ants in fur armor with an iron dagger...
I guess you like 1 hit KO's once your blade skill hits 100 with 100 STR.... Me, personally, I dont... I like a good honorable sword fight with equal Armor Ratings.
