Filled soul gems don't stack
Whenever I fill a soul gem with my soul trap weapons, the gem takes up its own slot in my inventory, even if there are other matching versions of that gem. it's really annoying to have to scroll through all of them to get to my repair hammers and sigil stones when i want to use those. does anyone know of a way to fix this, or identify what's causing the problem?

I fixed it for me by putting the filled gems into a container. I could loot them as a neat stack afterwards - of course, only the same gem type with the same soul level stacks.
Are you sure they are the same? a grand gem with a petty soul is not the same as a grand gem with a lesser soul and so on.
For me it stacks when they have the same type of soul inside them and are of the same gem size.

There might be a mod that makes them stackable but in the vanilla game they are all their own unique item. When I am looking for repair hammers I choose the weight icon, there are a few things that are heavier but the hammers are still usually within the first couple of slots. The only time they haven't been is when I messed up and made super heavy potions that I need to sell off.

yes, the same type of gems with the same type of souls are having trouble stacking. this is especially the case with souls that I capture myself. Filled soul gems that I buy usually stack fine, and empty soul gems are obviously completely unaffected.
I'm pretty sure but can't confirm that if you fill a soul gem it gets typed by the creature you filled it with. If you fill a gem with a rat soul and fill another gem of the same quality with a rat soul, they will stack. But 1 rat and 1 mudcrab will not stack.

I don't carry many soul gems thanks to azura's star, but that's what I remember. Which could be totally wrong.

Na, personally filled soul gems don't stack. It was like that in the original too, but I hope that gets updated.
If you sort the misc tab by weight the repair hammers should be at the top, so no need to scroll for them. Once you get Azura's Star you don't really need to carry more than a few backup soulgems.

But would be nice if they stacked. Or displayed the information on what souls they contain a bit better.
