Keep crashing "out of video memory" GPU is AMD RX 9070 with 16GB of VRAM
as the title says, my GPU should be way overkill in terms of VRAM. No idea why I've suddenly started crashing when I exit an area. Played for hours the other day with no issues, now it's like a 50/50 chance to crash every time I go from one area to the next.

Sorry to hear this. I am on a 4090 GTX and have crashes as well.

P.S.: Beware that any mention of bugs etc may close down your topic.

It's the oblivion plugin system looking at video memory but UE5 doesn't actually see that video memory?

If you enable vram monitoring it shows 0/0.

yeah, it does indeed show "0/0" for some odd reason
Sorry to hear, i'm on a 4090, never crashed once in 70+ hours.

What CPU are you using?

Try updating your drivers.

Oblivion Remastered uses upwards of 17, almost 18, gb's of vram for me at 4k.
If you're not at 4k, then there's something strange going on.
ok, right now you have nvidia fanboys saying it's your AMD Card...but they are having just 1 problem related to your driver or the UE5 engine that's causing the video ram crash error. It's apparently a feature of the UE5 engine. It still happens on nvidia 5090s too...so don't feel too bad. Only specific systems are getting by somehow without stutters or crashes. I have a 5800X3D and a 6750XT. I can play fine for a few hours...before the crashing starts. I can then clear my shader cache and delete that settings.sav file and it'll reload the shaders and I can play for 4 to 8 hours again without any problems. Max settings and hitting 120 fps usually...only down to 70 in very populated areas. You can look it up. It's an easy fix, but you have to do it every day before you start playing...sucks, but until they change this "feature" from Bethesda...there is really nothing we can do. It's why I am not going to buy the game until they get it fixed and improve the efficiency. It feels like an Alpha release right now.
This is mod is an easy instant fix for AMD users. I would give this one a look: https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivionremastered/mods/2637?tab=posts&BH=1
