Real life lighting does not wash out all the colours
As someone who enjoys going outside I hate when people act as if RT is realistic, real time lighting sure realistic lighting? No way buddy boy, there's a big reason why this game looks so much better at night and it's because you aren't greet with the piss filter from the sky light in game

I agree, compared to OG oblivion there's so much less colour in some scenes
I don't see washed out colors. At most I see maybe a lack of shadows because the skylight is too intense.

I play on fairly low graphics so it might be a factor why its not as bad for me, though It does remind me a lot of how washed out fallout 4 and 76 look often.

It's like Bethesda is allergic to vivid colours

I play on high it doesn't get better.
I don't mind when there's a little extra bloom, as the original game was find of that, too.

Sometimes I turn colour saturation up for that old Oblivion feel as the remaster is a little bit less minecraftish in its palette than the original. It's a button click on my monitor so no biggie.

The lighting looks amazing a lot of the time either way. It does have an effect on the colours - especially early evening in sunny weather where everything takes on that golden look, or when it's dismal and snowy and colour bleeds out of the world and bit, but I see both of these things in real life, too. Maybe it's just me, and I need some glasses :)

I don't notice a big enough of a difference between hardwareRT and softwareRT to justify using it outside of the water

Mine does not look like that at all, but I have seen a few like this so I am not suggesting it doesn't for you.

Also, hw RT makes a massive difference in my game, so I think we might be running on different settings/set-ups or something. Do you still see the weird coloration regardless of settings?

The big problem is game devs try and treat video games as seeing the game through a cinema lens, Like we are watching a movie. Lens flare, Bokeh, motion blur, horrible Dynamic range, god rays, bloom.

But real eyes dont see all these effects.

Yup chromatic aberration, Film grain. DOF, Motion blur, Lumen usually way to strong, Bloom over done. And i really hate fog. Unless it's minimally invasive. For this game i just turn it off. Game looks so much better without it. It can look good as below.

I wish my views were like that. I have so much fog it is difficult to see, especially in caves or dungeons. I tried using a shader mod but it didn't have any effect.
Just add the following to the bottom of engine.ini located in C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\Config\Windows

[SystemSettings] r.Fog=0
