So this variation forum post exist in more threads.
I experienced game crash right 1s before quest finish.
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2450850521
Tried reload quest 2x but it still crashed. My solution was go naked before final npc talk.
And edit config: turn off autosaves.
It helped. So maybe this info will help someone.
Generaly helping game restart and bug with not fit to tunnel can be caused by some item on character like sea walking.
put amulet on then go sleep
Also :
- Unequipped all items before talking to Kud-Ei the second time in the house
- Made sure only amulet was equipped and slept
- Went through each of the challenges without talking to Henantir or grabbing any of the items from the chests
- Order of Dark Room > Puzzle Room > Swim Room > Fight Room
I thought it was going to work as the prompts where a bit more... well, prompt lol; but then for the last one it still got hung up.
Since that didn't work - I tried something a little more extreme; pretty much the same as above, but instead of just unequipping the items, I dumped literally everything I could into a chest in one of the homes so I would have as little as possible on me (vs multiple stacks of 40+ potions and stuff). This was based on how "psb" could crash the original Oblivion if used right out the gate (especially if you had Midas installed - it would 98% die).
The only thing I didn't check - as, if it worked, I don't think I would have the patience to do this a second time (setting all stats); "showracemenu" now wipes your character to a clean slate. I am a Vampire with various other abilities active, and this may be causing a complication.
Again though - I already did the "showracemenu" thing once, and then you need to :
showclassmenu, showbirthsignmenu, player.setav <skill> (for each of the like 30 things), as well as un-tick a flag for vampirism and re-contract it.
TL:DR - If it is at the point of a disease like Vampirism causing the issue; I say either do this early in your run, or not at all until patched.
Now - I just said "♥♥♥♥ this" and made that post; but then my last save tantalized me being at the last sphere, so I figured "what's 10 seconds and another re-launch".
Well wouldn't you believe it - "showracemenu" literally resolved the issue.
Thus - it is boiled down (for my instance at least) as being an ability the game crashes out re-adding to my character on the exit.
Considering Vampirism was basically the only thing effecting my stats - it looks like that may be it.
Edit : Confirmed - I just re-loaded the save, and no "showracemenu" and it's back to crashing. 100% Vampirism stage 2 on my end.
I'm having the same issues. I notice that you dropped everything down to the ground.. I will have to give that a try.

Hi I just wanted to say thank you for sharing the twitch video.. it fixed my problem! What I did was before talking to the NPC I dropped the armor and weapon that I received from the container. I was completely naked. I find it strange that that was the culprit that caused me so much grief!
You are welcome. Hope devs patch it soon.
- 85% sun
- 4.9% rain
- 10% no rain thunderstorm / overcast
- 0.1% Hell (I had to include it lol)
Funny enough though - the one time I used the "Change Weather" greater power (from SI quest-line) - I did get a down-pour.
If your not worried about mods to fix it (or achievements in general) - might be worth trying a "fw 38EEE" console command, which will force the weather to be clear, and then it should "naturally" change again after a bit.
Yes.
