The Armor Rating displayed in the table represents the percentage of damage the piece of armor absorbs. A player's combined rating may not exceed 85%. The listed armor rating is modified by the player's Skill in the armor type (Light Armor or Heavy Armor) and the armor's condition by the following multiplier:
essentially, one can make a set of clothing that completely nullifies magic in unison with the mundane ring and have a few shield enchantments as well and be godly with 100% spell effectiveness.
at that point a spell with weakness to whatever you want at 100 magnitude followed by a barrage of your favorite destruction bolts kills literally everything in your path.
