Does anyone have breakdown how AC works in this game?
I am just not sure if go with caster armor or use robe.
Its all about tradeoff.
I miss numbers.

How much AC works for mitigate dmg?
We are talking about master difficulty.

Point is that even if I block I get some dmg.

So I am very currious about this system.

Its a strategically percentage reduction of damage per hit, so a bit of armour will block x% damage depending on its type and your skill with it. Caps out I'm told at 85% damage reduction. But armor degrades over time unless you keep it repaired.

your armor rating is one to one for resistance, 20 armor = 20% physical mitigation, armor caps at a maximum of 85. you will always take damage through blocks, having a higher block skill reduces the amount that you take in addition to its standard benefits.
From the wiki:

The Armor Rating displayed in the table represents the percentage of damage the piece of armor absorbs. A player's combined rating may not exceed 85%. The listed armor rating is modified by the player's Skill in the armor type (Light Armor or Heavy Armor) and the armor's condition by the following multiplier:

( 0.35 + 0.0065 * Skill ) * ArmorHealth%

Also, damage reduction from armor rating directly stacks with Shield, Fire Shield and Frost Shield magic effects, with the latter two providing their effect to the appropriate elemental resistance in addition to the damage reduction. So even if you just wear clothing instead of armour, it's possible to reach high damage reduction by stacking Shield enchantments and spells.
when you have maxed out alteration you can make a 100% shield and or 100% magic resistance spell and your immortal as long as you keep enough magic potions. If your breton you start with 50% magic and there's a ring that can give 50% also so then you will only need the 100% shield spell.

even with shield spells at 100 your physical resistance is capped at 85%, magical defenses however i believe can go to 100.

correct, you cannot completely nullify physical damage but at 15% received the amount is so small it feels like you are immortal especially when you have your health regenerating faster than you take damage.

essentially, one can make a set of clothing that completely nullifies magic in unison with the mundane ring and have a few shield enchantments as well and be godly with 100% spell effectiveness.

at that point a spell with weakness to whatever you want at 100 magnitude followed by a barrage of your favorite destruction bolts kills literally everything in your path.

Make yourself a mod that raises max armor rating to 100 where it belongs and you're good. Add enchantments of 100% Reflect Damage and Spells as well as Fortify Armor skills (Heavy and Light) and you become unstoppable as enemies kill themselves while attacking you.
